So-called Crazy Bill, the fire fiend, Harrison Jones, the fire fiend's assistant, and Franklin Gaston, the woman's ter ror; all colored black, in the skin and heart are these- Rev. J. M. Shaver, who for some time has resided at Palmersville, in Stanly county, has removed his family to his farm in Itowan. The citizens of Blackmer and Steele township will be surprised to notice in our next issue some offers made them by that enterprising merchant J. Itowan Davis. Charlotte Evening- Chronicle. "Good Evening" is the greeting words with which the Charlotte Evening Chronicle makes its initua bow on Jarcli 22nd. The Chronicle adds to Charlotte another lively daily newspaper, teeming with the doings of those, intellectual and go ahead citizens. It is a credit to the editor and a valuable advertisemen for Charlotte.! The citizens have Tho New Tobacco Factory. i Another eTent in the tobacco hi- i tory of Salisbury is recorded this week, from the fact that the ground is broken and operations have be gun for the erection of a factorr. facing on Council street, on the lot behind the Banner warehouse. The building is to be a frame one, with brick basement, 40x80 feet: two stories high. It is to be completed by 3Iay 15th. The contract is awarded to out fellow-townsman. Mr. J. D. Small. This en temruG is the work "of the Salisbury Man ufacturing and Building Associa tion, lhe building up of this part of town is due to the liberality, en ergy and push of Messrs. Thomason & bwmk. They are pushing farm ers, and when we can induce a few more such men to move to town and enter into business it will add to the prosperity of the place. With all our tobacco factories in blast things will be lively and mon ey plenty this year. ? ' ' Wiley Russell, age about 40 years, died at Russell mine, in Montgom ery county, Wednesday morning, March 17th, 18SG, of 'Pneumonia. He was a. well known and respected citizen of that county. David Trexler in Concord at the age oi 77jyears o months, lie was buried from the Lutheran . Church at this place in the Lutheran grave yard. The deceased was an old citi zen of Salisbury and has many rela tives and fricnd3 here who wil monrn his loss. Jrs. Jartha Susan, wife of Jr. Henry Hudson, of I Rowan county, died at .her home, Jarch 21st, 1880, aged 51 yearg, 11 months, 21 days. She joined, the Jethodist church at the age of 16 years, and died in the faith. She was buried from Union church, and many (friends and re latives testified by their presence their affection and her worth. May her husband and children follow her example, and meet hefc at last.
