Jle is much pleased with operations, and insisted on Mr. Cramer adding an additional 20 stamp t,o his mill, whicli will be complete i;i less than two monthsi The mill will then have a 40 stamp capacity. A large amount of prospecting has been done on the property the past month, and inexhaustible quantities i of low grade exposed. The compa ny speaks of putting in a 100 stamp plant on the eastern end of the property near, the river, a proj ect urged by Mr. Warner, who be lieves in dowig business by the wholesale. V Tlio Sullivan mine shaft hasbeen sunken to the depth of 47 feet, on a nearly perpendi'dilar vein of quartz running north 23 east. The walls are composed of talco argelfaceous slate. At bttqnof shaft a level is cut for 42 1 edt'oh the course of vein; the ore oadump, about 250 tons, is mainly nlphide of lead and copper; the ore has been carefully sampled and assayed by Prof, llanna, of the Charlotte mint, also by assayers in Xewark, X. The parties opening this mine have bon ded the property, and intended pur chasing. One of the parties inter ested tdied a short time ago, and the mine prospect is now returned to Ihe owner of the' property, who wishes to bond to any other party peet s a 100 Feat and Kills a Man. ; From the Greensboro Workman we learn of a most distressing affair which- occurred last Thursday at the Fisher Hill Mine, situated about 7 miles southwest of that place. The workmen had been, en gaged for several days in sinking the main shaft of the mine to a greater depth, which is now only 100 feet. While at work liftingthe dirt from the- shaft, the bucket which is -used for this purpose be came unfastened just, before ;it reached the mouth of the . shaft, and it went back to, the bottom, with a:i awful crash, striking Dan. Williams, ono of the workman, a terrible and death .dealing blow. Williams was taken from the tnine and doctors summoned, but of no avail- be died in a few hours. The bucket fell one hnnd red feet, and it is said that it descended .with a fearful crash. Williams had been told not to stand under the bucket while it was, being hauled upv but he paid na attention to the warning.
