Editors : Inasmuch as a recent issue of your paper stated, that 31r. Spurgeon, the great Lon don preacher, had "withdrawn from the Baptist Union," I ask, in jns- Lticc both to Mr. Soureon and the fdenomination to which he belongs, that you inkert this brief paragraph, published in .the Voice, of New York, Nov. 10th, and correct an erroneous impression, namely, that Mr. Spurgeon had withdrawn from the Baptist Communion.' Respectfully, J. F. Turf le. Tho Circus. Tne crowd on Monday wa3 the smallest that has ever been seen in Salisbury on circus day.V We un derstand that at the circus only about a third of the seats were fill ed. The Graded Schools did not have holiday, the very boys and girls not desiring to go to the show. W e suppose that several hundred dollars were saved to our county by this gen6ral determination not to patronize the circus. Poetry for Obituaries. We notice in some of our ex changes that obituaries are some times ended with original poetry. Ueatn is already tne rvinc: oi l er rors, and we are sorry to see that these poets are:idding to his terrors.
