Thia act shall be in frce from and after its ratification. Aunt Julia Burgess, and honorable and much respected colored woman near here died Thursday afternoon. She was 72 years of age. Her entire life was rendered in faithful service to white people. She will be missed by her race as well as by those for whom she laboured so long and faithfully. Rev. Mr. Self filled his regular ap pointment here Sunday. His message was forceful, convincing and uplift ing. Rev. and Mrs. Marvin Self and lit tle Harold came down Saturday and spent the night at Dalkeith, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunter. Little Harold says "The roads will make fine mud cakes." WAR OF THE ROSES The White Roses will entertain in the Armony over the Bank of War ren on the evening of January 29th and February 5th. The Red Roses will entertain in the Armory over the Bank of Warren on the evening of February 1st and in the Opera House on 9th, having se cured the services of Mrs. Renshaw for that date. The Red and White Roses will com bine on the evening of February 14th and entertain the public at old Armory. Farm Records Shattered The value of the farm crops pro duced in the United States during 1916 was $8,934,587,000. High prices caused .he great value. Texas ranks nrst, with crops valued at $684 000 and Rhode Island last, with 403,000. ARCOLA ITEMS It was said that Mr. A. ran the run ning boards off his car working for One Bond Issue last fall, and Mr. B. 'beat his hat into fragments shouting because it was voted down. We think if it was before the people now we would get the Bonds by a large' ma jority. Roads are almost impassable. The trucks cannot come out to bring ker Sine oil and soft drinks, and auto mobiles are of little service. Mrs. Ben Robertson and son have een very sick for sometime. " Mr. Joe S tailings and Miss Sue Smith visited Mr. S. J. Stalling's near Vaughana who is ill, one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Collyer visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Robertson last Sunday. Mrs, T. A. Cheek, of Aspen, passed through here enroute to Inez Satur day to visit relatives. Mr. J. R. Raney and Son Ollie at- J tended Court last week. We are sorry Rev. Mr. Self was prevented from filling his regular ap pointment at Prospect Sunday. Sev eral attended in spite of the inclement weather. Mr. H. S. Egerton, of Austin, was on our street Sunday. Me regret to announce the illness of Mrs. J. "B. Harris.
