rTHB WARDEN UBCOKD TUESQAY; JANUARY i91s 7 HOG RAISING IN TOWN "My Country Tit of Thee, Switt Land Liberty." THE WARREN RECORD Telephone Number 17. i i' 1 W. BRODIE JONES. .Editor & Mgr. HOWARD F. JONES . . . .Owner & Contributing Editor T. J. TAYLOR. . .Contributing Editor Entered at the Post office at War renton. N. C, as second-class matter under Act of Congress, March 3, 18 9 BUY A WAR SAVING STAMP Another opportunity is before us A war opportunity it is, and as a investment it holds charms all of ts own. The Liberty Bond issues were suc cessful. They largely -were subscrib ed by the men of the country. The War Savings plan is every individual '.5 opportunity. Twenty-rive cents, two bits, starts one on the road to Thrift the only undeniable way to prosper ity and golden opportunities. Twenty-five cents and one has start ed. The spare quarters soon will ac cumulate into a tangible War Savin stamp. The Saving stamp with a lit tle perseverance will grow into a .Cer tificate and onward one goes, evincing little effort, accomplishing something for self and country. Every individual should buy these stamps. The government is setting at work a plan which spells prosperity to its people. In every analysis, the War Saving plan is opportunity for the American people. It, though a war necessity, is a business opportu nity. People of Warren, buy these stamp? people of Warren encourage thrift in your children by starting them in this path of lucre accumulation! Sure, it is a duty, but one sugar-coated and remunerative to the material; streng thening and inspiring to the patriotic. Under the County, chairmanship of Mr. John Graham, a man interested and competent, a representative com mittee of Warren people is to be chosen to work " this " opportunity thru th. year. Every member of this com mittee as well as every citizen of Warren should invest and see that others invest in these "baby bonds." We want the idea of thrift inculcated in the youth of the land, it is essentia that this be. Warren must acquit it self honorably, and the individual ini tiative of the citizens of the County alone will make this possible. All in the fight, with a hearty push, and let Warren stand forth at 'the end of the course with the wreath accomplishment as the crown! "Thrift! thrift!" the cry comes over the Nation. Thrift in its every as pect must be practiced; results must be forthcoming from this creed hurled in; its necessity to, our doors and en dorsed by those, who knpw. Over the country tlva vast vcity economy hc.nszi ever every com munity it is suspends;; upon e.asb individual the duty to save,, save anuJ then save is centered. Food conservation. is necessary, but back of this food production is essen tial. This year, we must produce as never previous. Other communitie are awake: Warrenton cannot help see the necessity. Hog raising in town would offer the people of Warrenton an opportunity a war time necessity. In the light of this necessity, under the sanction of the popular will, can our town au thorities fail to act favorably towavt. the repeal of the hog ordinance? ? d- ed 1 - - -. - .. . . - . - -. --. . - UMMMIMIII IJWII.JMIII il.imllin I I ,. , ..u i p) I IJ.il.ll., M I . WOMAN'S-INSTITUTE AT MACON A Woman's Institute is to be held at Macon on February 4th in conjunc tion with a Farmer's meeting-. Considering the purport of this meet ing, notice of which is found else where in this issue, every housewife in a radius of mileswould be profited by attending. The question of food production rests in a great degree upon the men of the country. Food conservation is a woman's sword, effective, practical and true. It is the sword which will spell disaster to the haughty triumph of the German War God, and the sword .which, cutting out criminal waste, turns to the starving peoples of our allied cause the product of sal vation. " Every meeting in which saving and thrift come up for discussion and solution should be attended whenever possible by housewives who, with thei hands upon the production inade quate for waste, must make a distri bution for the preservance of our country the triumph of justice in this war. ' "Save young man, and become re spectable and respected. It is the surest way." "Keep adding little to little, and soon there will be a great heap." Ben jamin Franklin.
