Miss Elizabeth Rodwell is at home for her summer vacation after spending several months at Barnes ville where she was a member of the Barnesville high school faculty. Johnson Miss Frances Lorraine Reid, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Picot Reid, of Warrenton, and Mr. Garland Henry Johnson, of Lucama, near Wilson, were quietly married on Sunday, May 23rd, in Henderson by the Rev. Robert E. Brown, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, at high noon. The bride was exquisitely attired in a frock of Eleanor blue trimmed in lace, with white accessories; her corsage was of pink sweetheart roses. Only a few of her immediate relatives witnessed the ceremony. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of John Graham High School and also of Campbell College at Buies Creek. For several months she has held a responsible position with LoughlinGoodwyn Jewelry Store in Warrenton. Ellis, all of Warrenton. Lunch was served in the perenial garden to the rear of the Tucker home. Miss Brodie Wins Prize For Essay Raleigh, May 24.?Miss Paige Lewis Brodie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Brodie of Dunn, formerly of Raleigh, won the prize offered by the Chicora Chapter of the U. D. C. of Dunn, for the best essay written by any 7th grade student. Her subject was "Overcoming The Difficulties After The Civil War." Miss Brodie is a niece of Mrs. Howard Jones of Warrenton. Legion Auxiliary Discusses Sale Mesdames E. T. Harris and J. E. Frazier were joint hostesses to 13 members of the American Legion Auxiliary on Thursday evening at their country home near Warrenton. The living room and reception hall were festive in flowers. Mrs. A. C. Blalock read a selection on Poppy Day which will be observed here on Saturday, May 29. The Girl Scouts will be in charge of the sale. Reading Club Not To Meet In Summer The Warrenton Reading Club decided at a meeting held at the hnmp of Mrs. nuke Jones on Tues day afternoon with ten members] present to disband for the summer months. At the meeting this week a review on A. J. Cronin's book, "The Stars Look Down," was given by Mrs- Alpheus Jones, and Mrs. F. H. Gibbs read, "If I Had Four Apples," by Josephine Lawrence, which was prepared by Mrs. C. R- Rodwell. An ice course was served the guests dining the afternoon.
