SCOTT GARDNER, Manager ' The Fabric Doctor | "Drycleaning Ruined My Cloth Flower Decorations" Asks Mrs. E. C. F. Dear Mrs. E C. F.: The decorative flowers, when you sent them to the drycleaner, had rolled edges but now are flat and frayed. Here is something to con sider before you blame dry cleaning for the droopy dec orations. Examination re veals that the flowers had cut edges and were not. bound. Further, an adhesive had been applied to the. petals to hold them in a rolled position and to pre vent fraying. The trouble was that the decorations could not be re moved from your dress be cause they were attached by metal prongs and the ad hesive used to keep the pe tals whole and rolled was soluble In drycleanlng sol vent. After cleaning, most of the adhesive was remov ed and the flowers lay flat with the cut edges frayed. This type of garment nor mally is sent to the dry cleaners, therefore, the man ufacturer should have been careful to use adhesive? on the decorations that would not dissolve in drycleaning solvent. The drycleaner could not suspect that the adhesive Was soluble and since he could not remove the flowers, it would appear that the manufacturer was responsible for the damaged decorations.
