John Graham Plays At Enfield Tonight; Norlina Journeys To Aurelian Springs The Warrenton-Enfield twin bill at Enfield will highlight action among Halifax-Warren teams tonight. The undefeated Yellow Jack ets will get an opportunity to move into a first-place tie in the boys' division and Enfield's girls will get a chance to strengthen their hold on the top spot in the girls race. In other conference games on tap tonight Norlina invades Aurelian Springs and Davie is at Littleton. Weldon, leading the boys division with a per fect 3-0 slate, is not engaged in league battle. Warrenton's quintet, stand ing 2-0 in the seven-man loop, can move into a tie with the Tornadoes with a win in to night's game against Enfield, which has dropped two of three games in conference ac tion. Enfield, a pre-season favor ite in Halifax-Warren circles, has fallen twice. Earlier in the season they lost by a 52-37 count to Norlina, but Tuesday night they gave a warning of things to come when a highly favored Weldon team got by the Demons by a 47-43 margin. Warrenton, with wins over Norlina and Aurelian Springs, will send two players into the game with averages in the dou ble figures. Center Herman Hooker takes a 16-point aver age into the contest. The lanky senior has bucketed 64 points thus far to pace the Jacket scorers. Guard Chocky White, boasting an 11-point average in four outings, is the other Warrenton eager in dou ble digits. Other Warrenton starters taking the court to night will be forward Clinton Neal (6.8), forward Billy Ben son (2.7), and guard Gordon Haithcock (4.0). In the opening game a once beaten Warrenton sextet will bo in an underdog role when it meets a team that has bowl ed over every H-W girls' ag gregation in sight.. The Dera onettes downed Weldon by 25 points, Aurelian Springs by 30 and Norlina by 18. Coach Janice Allen will pin' her team's hopes on sopho more Knox Polk, who has dropped 67 markers in four outings for a team-leading av erage of 16.8. Not far back is Brenda Davis with an av erage of 13.8. Warrenton's third starter will be Sandra Jones, who has bucketed 13 points in three outings for an (See J. Bovs Win A last-second field goal by Norlina forward Gayle Wil liams gave Norlina's sextet a 33-32 win over Warrenton in a Halifax-Warren Conference game played last Friday night at Norlina. Warrenton carried a one Point advantage into the final frame' but a hustling Blue Wave team dropped in ten points to Warrenton's eight to give Coach Bob Price's aggre gation their first loop win. Williams scored all but two of her team's points in the last stanza and it was her last shot ^ through the hoop cleanly that gave the Norlina quintet the victory. In the boys contest Warren ton, down by a point at half time- roared back into the court after intermissin to out score Norlina, 24-14. The Littleton Blue Jays lost two of their starters via the foul route in the first half and couldn't stave off a little, but strong Aycock club here Friday night as the home team trimmed the Blue Jays 46-34. Littleton fell behind in the first quarter 8-5 but came storming back in the second quarter to take a 19-16 lead at I intermission. "In the second half wo werei unable to contain Hoyle (Bob-! by) and he killed us from out side,' Coach Tommy Satter field said. I "After we lost Keywoodj Cheves and Charles Moore via fouls we were hurting," Sattcr-! field added. "We played a good ball club and we did a good job." , In the second half the home club had things pretty much their own way as they out-1 classed a crippled club. Aycock pumped through 30 points while the Blue Jays could man age only 15. It was during the third quar ter that Aycock built up its lead as they ran up 14 points to Littleton's four.
