The hour of the Field Day will be re ferred to a committee. Beginners Day To Be Held April 24 ! Beginner's Day will be con ) ducted at Norlina High School on Wednesday, April 24, from 8:30 to 12 noon, Mrs. Rose Perkinson, Warren County Health Department nurse, an nounced yesterday. All child ren who are six years of age on or before October 15, are urged to attend. Parents are requested to bring their child's birth cer tificate and immunization data with them. Beginner's Day will also be held at the North Warren High School on Thursday April 25. ' MR. FUNDERBURK Revival Services To Be Held At Zion Revival services will begin on Sunday evening, April 24, at 7:45 o'clock at the Zion Methodist Church near Nor lina. The Rev, Donald F Funderburk. pastor of the church, will bring the mes sages all week at the request ot members of the church. Mr. Funderburk, a native of Lancaster, S. C., received the B A. degree from Wof ford College, Spartanburg, S C., and is a candidate, having completed requirements in January, for the B.D degree from Duke University, which will be awarded in June, 1P63. His pastorates include Campobello Methodist Church, Campobello, S. C., the Gill burg Methodist Church, Hen derson; and the Jerusalem Zion Methodist Charge of Norlina. Married to the former Miss Mary Amick, Mr. Funderburk is the father of two children: a son. Marc, and a daughter, Celeste. Services will be conducted each evening, Sunday through Friday at 7:45 o'clock. Lay men will assist the minister in the services each evening. Special music will be under the direction of Mrs. Roy Hayes and Mrs. George Reed. Members and friends of the church are invited to make plans to attend every night, Mr. Funderburk said. Mrs. Pridgen Feted On 72nd Birthday Mrs. J C. Pridgen was en tertained on her 72nd birth day, Thursday afternoon, April 11, aj the home of Mrs. It. G. Norwood on Walker Avenue. The home was taste fully decorted with spring flowers, carrying out the col or scheme of purple and white in decorations and re freshments. Upon arrival the honoree was welcomed by the guests singing "Happy Birthday," and she was also presented a violet corsage Guests were registered on a purple and white birthday greeting Mrs J W Arnold gave a reading, after which Mrs. Pridgen opened the 13 gifts presented by the guests Pic tures were taken of lBrs. V. Taylor. The president, Mrs. E. E. Hecht, presided, and the hostess gave the meditation thoughts and prayer. Miss Emily Ballinger, home agent, gave a talk and demon stration on "Fabrics and House Furnishings." She cau tioned members to observe labels on fabrics before buy ing. A report on "Pruning Shrubs" was given by Mrs. Taylor. Mrs. J. D. Holtzman and Mrs. C. P. Hooker gave reports on the club xnembers tour to Wilmington last week. Jerusalem Ladies To Sponsor Stew Sale The ladies of Jerusalem Methodist Church will spon sor a Brunswick stew at the home of Mrs. Van Coleman in Wise on Friday, April 26. The stew will be ready to serve at noon at 75c if the customer furnishes container; otherwise 85c. Proceeds will be used for the benefit of the church.
