March 12 - 17: Artificial Breeding Technician's Train ing Course, N. C. State Uni versity. March 19-25: Poison Pre vention Week. Minumum Wage and Hours Most people are well in formed as to the minimum pay of $1.00 per hour straight farm wages. A storm Is brew ing though over the require ments as related to tenants, sharecroppers, etc. As a rule of thumb, If the farm opera tor and the tenant each go 50-50 In the management of the operation then you can for get about guaranteeing ten ants, sharecroppers $1.00 per hour. If the farm operator Is the main boss of the farm and closely supervises the entire operation, then the tenant and/ or sharecropper, etc., will be entitled to a minimum of $1.00 per hour for working on that farm. If the farm operator did not hire over 500 man days of labor during any calendar quarter during 1966, he does not have to pay minimum wages regardless of the num ber of man days hired during 1967. In event you are subject to this law, the charts will give you a sample record to keep on each employee and also two samples of an ar rangement that could be used as a lease. If you think you will use about 500 man days during any calendar quarter for 1967 suggest that you keep some records and not be In a po sition of being questioned by complalntants or investiga tors during 1968.
