News & Society Items Mr. and Mrs. Chealey Tar borough of Durham were weekend guests of Mr. and Mr a. Richard Campbell. Mrs. John Harrington of Philadelphia, Pa., Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gilbert of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mr. Her bert Davis of Buffalo, N. Y. are guests of Mrs. Lowell Harris at Grove Hill this week. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde King of Warrenton, Mrs. Walter S. Wilson, Jr., and Mr. Fran cis Wilson visited Pvt. Wal ter S. Wilson In Fort Bragg Sunday. Mrs. Walter S. Wilson, Jr., left Monday to spend the week with her mother, Mrs. Joyner, In Roanoke Rapids. Master Randy King of War renton spent the weekend with his grandmother, Mrs. W. Stanley Wilson, of Ridgeway. Miss Robin Wilson spent the weekend with Miss Silver Jones in Durham. Pvt. Walter S. Wilson is confined to his barracks at Fort Bragg with a fractured bone in his foot. Mrs. Boyd Davis Is spend ing a few days at Nags Head. Miss Janie Williams has returned home from Hollins College in Salem, Va. PICNIC DINNER Mrs. T. H. LEONARD REUNION The Leonard family reunion was held at the marina of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Davis on Gas ton Lake on Sunday. Barbe cued chicken, stew and a pic nic lunch was served. Mrs. Allen Drake of Tarboro said ' the blessing. Seventy - five guests attended from War renton, Nashville, Tarboror, Henderson, Durham, Rocky Mount, Littleton, Norllna, Ma con, Areola and Vaughan. MISS BRENDA CAMILLE SHERRITT Engagement Announced Miss Brenda Cam 111e Sherritt's engagement to John Tyson Mitchiner, Jr., of Chevy Chase, Md., is announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lee Sherritt of Miami, Florida. Mr. Mitchiner is the son of Mrs. John Tyson Mitchner of Warrenton and the late Mr. Mitchiner. A June 25 wedding is planned. Mrs. Butler Re-elected President Woman's Club Mrs, R, B. Butler was re elected president of the War renton Woman's Club for the coming year at the final dinner meeting of the club for the year held at Colonial Lodge on Thursday evening of last week. Other officers re-elected were Mrs. Manley S. Martin, recording secretary; Mrs. Leonard Daniel, correspond ing secretary; and Miss Mary F. Rod well, treasurer. Mrs. J, Allen Tucker was elected second vice president to fill a vacancy. It was announced that the Warrenton Woman's Club won an award for second place for its project with the library at Boys Home at Lake Wacca maw. Mrs. Leonard Daniel was presented the club's "Out standing Woman of the Year" award, and Mrs. Butler com mended her on her variety of duties in the club and com munity. Miss White Honored At Misd. Shower Miss Ann White, bride-elect of Clinton and Warrenton, was honored Saturday evening, May 13, at a miscellaneous shower given by Mrs. Joe Scruggs, Mrs. Philip Tate, Mrs. c. K. Tate, and Mrs. Scott Goforth in the social room of the Belmont Baptist Church. Miss White was presented a corsage of carnations and roses and a silver serving tray by the hostesses. Among the guests were Mrs. Dean Tate and Mrs. J. C. Garner, mother and grand mother, respectively, of the bridegroom. Miss White, Mr. Tate Honored At Dinner Miss Ann White and Mr. Jim Tate, July bride and groom elect, were entertained at a dinner party on Saturday night May 20, at Fussell's Res taurant in Clinton by Mr. and Mrs. Perry Crumplerand Mr. and Mrs. Fred Calson, Jr. Tables were decorated with pink peonies.
