Riggan of Norlina announce the engagement of her daughter, Cynthia Frances Spain, to Mr. Robert Joe Moseley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moseley of Warrenton on August 28, at Mount Auburn Christian Church at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. No Invita tions are being sent in the county but friends and relatives are invited. Norlina High School Glee Club To Give Concert The Norlina High School Glee Club will present its spring concert tonight (Fri day) at 8 o'clock In the Nor lina High School Auditorium. The 60-voice group is com posed of students from grades 9 through 12 and is under the direction of the Rev. R. Bruce Pate, minister of the Norlina Methodist Church. The concert will feature a wide variety of music, intend ed to offer something for everyone. The program will open with a group of sacred and classical selections. Sacred Selections will include "Thanks Be To Thee" by Handel, "Cast Thy Burdens Upon The Lord" by Men dellsohn and "Praise Ye The Lord" by Saint-Seans. Two classical selections complete the group - "Toreador Song," from Bizet's opera "Carmen" and "The Processional," from Wagner's opera "Tann hauser". A second group composed of folk music will include peren nial spiritual favorites "Balm In Gilead" and "He's Got The Whole World to His Hand" as well as two popular folk-style selections "Blow ing In The Wind" and "500 Miles". The group closes with the spiritual, "Keep in The Middle of The Road." The final group features se lection from the American theater, closing with two pa triotic" numbers. Included will be "Climb Every Moun tain," from "The Sound of Music," and "You'll Never Walk Alone," from "Car ousel," as well as arrange ments of "Autumn Leaves" and "It's Almost Like Being In Love." The Concert will conclude with "Land of Hope and Glory" and "The Battle Hymn of The Republic." In addition to selections by the entire group, the program will feature two piano solos by Miss Marshall Perry, Glee Norliia PTA Holds Final Meet Of Year The Norlina High School Parent-Teacher Association held Its final meeting on Mon day night In the gymnatorium. Mrs. O. H. Yancey, president, presided. In a short business session It was voted to pay for ad ditional ball equipment for the playground. Roger Peeler, County j School Superintendent, pre ' sented the Rev. Bruce Pate a gift from the Board of Educa tion in appreciation for the outstanding work he has done with the High School Glee Club. Mrs. Janet Coleman, Public School Music Director pre sented the elementary grades In a musical program, "Grow ing With Music." For an tour the children performed for their appreciative audience. Mrs. Yancey expressed thanks for the splendid co operation she had received during the year. Miss Holderman And J. I. Brooks Wed Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Holder man of Morris, HI., annoui \> the marriage of their daugh ter, Bettie Mae, to James Ivey Brooks, son of Mrs. Olive Hecht of Norlina and J. M. Brooks of Pensacola, Fla. The marriage was solem nized at the First Methodist Church at Conway, S. C., on March 24. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks are making their tome at 1901 Halford Apartment 148, Santa Clara, Calif. Linda Hundley Heads Junior Woman's Club Mrs. Linda Hundley wa? ln staUed as president of the Norlina Junior Woman's Club at Its May meeting. Other _ officers installed were: Mrs. Tillle Daeke, first vice president; and Mrs. Dot Leete, second vice president. Mrs. Grady Carriker of Kittrell, chairman of the edu cational department of the 14th district Federation of Wo men's Clubs, was the guest speaker. Presented by Mrs. TUlle Daeke, program chair man, Mrs. Carriker spoke on Club accompaniest. Miss Jeanna Bobbltt will sing two selections from "The Sound of Music". And Lee Burrows wlU be featured in a special drum accompaniment to the closing number on the pro gram. The public Is cordially In vited to attend the concert. There will be no admission charged. Education. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Earl Stegall with Mrs. Harold Stegall as co hostess. Thirteen members and the club's advisor, Mrs. Katherine Stallings, were pre sent. The devotional was given by Mrs. Margie Daniel. During the social hour, the hostesses sorved lime punch, cake squares and mixed nuts. The next meeting will be held on the third Thursday night in September. CELEBRATES BIRTHDAY Mr. J. L. Overby celebrat ed his 88th birthday at his home Monday. He receiv ed many birthday cards and gifts from friends and relatives. MOVE TO NORLINA Mr. and Mrs. Willie Perry and family of Capital Heights, Md., this week moved to their new home in Norlina where they have purchased the resi dence formerly owned by Mrs. H. F. Kelly, now Mrs. Glenn Parrish, on Boyd Street. Mr. Perry, a mechanic, is now operating the garage adjoining Hight's Service Station on the Warrenton-Norlina Road. VISIT MUSEUM Three groups, consisting of 82 children from E. M. Rollins School In Henderson recently visited the E. G. Hecht and Son's Museum In Norlina. Members of the Senior Class of Norlina High School, who left for Washington, D. C., returned to Norlina on Saturday. While in Washington the group posed for their pictures in front of the White House.
