American Legion Auxiliary
With the cold war getting hotter,
our V. A. hospitals are
continually filled with our sick
and wounded men and women
from the Armed Forces. Some
have a fortunately brief stay
while others must remain for
weeks and months, even years.
The American Legion Auxiliary,
Limer Unit No. 25, strives
to bring a measure of comfort
to those who have given so much
by supplying comfort items to
these patients. Forty-eight gifts
are sent by our unit every two
months to the four V. A. hospitals
in North Carolina, located
ai Durham, Salisbury,
Fayetteville and Oteen. These
items include shaving needs,
playing cards, shower caps,
tooth paste and brushes, stationery,
paperback books, etc.
Funds for this project are
raised largely by our Poppy
Day sales, supplemented by
bake sales and a portion of our
annual dues. It is a wholehearted
unit effort. Notwithstanding,
we want to do so much
more and perhaps as ourmemt
