News & Society Items Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wright Tlsdale an their sons, Wright, Jr., and family and Boyd Tladal* of Camp Lejeune, Dr. and Mrs. Robert Meade of Lynchburg, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Thorne and daughter, Miss Agnes Thorne, ot Greensboro. Miss Ronda Crutchfield of Raleigh will spend the weekend here with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. G. W. Crutchfield. The Rev. and Mrs. John Link of Spring Hope were recent visitors in Warrenton. Mr. Ralford accompanied his wife and son to Warrenton on Fri MISS EUGENIA HANDLEY ROBERTS Engagement Announced Mr. and Mrs. Jack Eugene Roberts of Macon, Georgia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Eugenia Handley, to Lt. George Walton Franklin, Jr., son of Col and Mrs. George Walton Franklin of Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The wedding will be held December 27 at 4 p. m. at Mulberry United Methodist Church in Macon. Miss Roberts is the granddaughter of Mrs. Robert D. Handley and the late Mr. Handley and Mr. and Mrs. John A. Roberts, all of Macon. Mr. Mustlan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mustian of NOrllna. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mustlan of Henderson announce the birth of a son, Morris Allen, on Nov. 21, at Maria Par ham Hospital in Henderson. Mrs. Mustlan is the former Miss Brenda Hope of Henderson. Mr. Mustlan Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mustian of Norllna. from Wesleyan College where she Is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Who's Who In American Colleges and Universities. Lt. Franklin is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Franklin of Rockmart, Georgia and Mrs. H. P. Reld and the late Mr. Reld of Warrenton and nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Tim' Thompson of Warrenton. A graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Lt. Franklin is presently stationed at Moody AFB, Georgia, where he is undergoing Pilot Training. UNC Holds Meeting At Home Of Mrs. Lamm The Warren County Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy held its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. V. T. Lamm on Wednesday afternoon of last week with Mrs. S. Douglas Duke as co-hostess. Mrs. M. P. Powell,president, opened the meeting with the ritual and the Pledge to the Flag. Reports from the secretary and treasurer were given. Mrs. W. R. Baskervlll gave a report of the General Convention, noting that Mrs. Alton Battle of Wilson was elected Registrar General at the General Convention. Mrs. S. Douglas Duke read an interesting article, "Way, 1 Miss Thompson And Mr. Fuller Wed In a ceremony of beauty and simplicity Miss Eleanor Ruth Thompson of Warrenton and Will lam bouis Fuller, jr., of Afton were united In marrlafe on Sunday afternoon, November 15, at four o'clock at the Warren Plains Baptist church. The Rev. Red W. Fuson, pastor of the bride, officiated using the double-ring ceremony. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. jerry Bryant Thompson of Warrenton. The groom Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Louis Fuller, Sr., of Afton. The ceremony was performed before a background of five oregon fern balls, centered with a floral basket of mums, snap dragons, and gladolias, four candelabrum with cathedral tapers. Mr. Phillip Harris of Warrenton presented a program of ni^Hlal organ music. Miss Amy K11 go re, of Warrenton, soloist, sang "O Perfect Love" and the "Wedding Prayer" as the benediction. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floorlength gown of antique bridal satin fashioned with a rounded neckline and long sleeves extending to a point over the wrist trimmed with tiny pearls. The empire waist was accented with two rows of lace. Her A-llne skirt was softly pleated in the back. Her floor length detachable train was attached to the shoulders and the edges of the train were bordered with lace. Her elbow length bouffant veil was attached to a crown of lace and pearls. Her Jewelry consisted of an opal necklace and diamond earrings, both gifts from the groom. She carried a nosegay of white carnations, centered with a white orchid and showered with white satin ribbon and white feathered carnations. Miss Anne Thompson, sister of the bride of Warrenton, was maid of honor. She wore a formal length gown of moss green crepe with a high neckline, an empire waist with long sleeves trimmed In Irish lace. Her Allne skirt was accented with a bow in the back. Miss Hilliard Sings At 'Friends' Concert Blair Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Hilliard and son, N. M. Jr., attended the "Friends of the College" Concert at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh on last Wednesday night. Betty Allen, mezzo-soprano, and William Warfield, baritone, joined an orchestra and chorus assembled from the Raleigh area to present the concert. Miss Faye Hilliard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. M. Hilliard, Is a member of the North Carolina State University Chorus which participated. C„ Miss Joan Bullough of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Roy V. Shear In of Warrent on. MOVED TO NURSING HOME Mrs. A. C. Blalock has been moved from Warren General Hospital to the Coleman Nursing Home in Norllna. MRS. WILLIAM LEWIS FULLER. JR of organza net was attached to a bow of matching material. She carried a nosegay of yellow and bronze pompons showered with bronze ribbon. Bridesmaids were Miss Verllene Thompson, sister of the bride of Raleigh, Mrs. Edgar G. Neal, sister of .the groom, of Afton, Mrs. Harry J. Carter, cousin of the groom, of Afton, Mrs. Allison Rivers of Henderson, Miss Edwenna King, of Raleigh and Mrs. Joyce R. Vaughan of Richmond, Va. They were dressed like the honor attendant and carried nosegays of yellow and bronze pompons showered with yellow ribbon. Mr. Harry J. Carter, cousin of the groom of Afton, served as best man. Ushers were Mr. Billy Thompson, of Raleigh, Mr. Jerry Thompson, of Warrenton, brothers of the bride, Mr. Edgar G. Neal, brother-in-law of the groom, of Afton, Mr. Ernest B. Harris, and Mr. Bill Stainback of Warrenton and Mr. Allison Rivers of Henderson. , Mrs. Thompson, mother of the bride, chose for her daughter's wedding, a street-length dress of orange wool knit with matching accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid. Mrs. Fuller, mother 6f the groom, chose for the wedding a street-length dress of beige wool knit with black and white accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid. Mrs. W. E. Knight, maternal grandmother of the bride, chose for the wedding a street-length dress of beige wool knit with matching accessories. Her corsage was a white orchid. Mrs. Earl Maynard, jr., of Warrenton, was wedding director and mistress of ceremony. Miss Bonnie Clayton, of Raleigh, registered the wedding guests. They wore white orchids. Immediately following the ceremony the coigde received the guests in the vestibule of the church. After this, the couple left for a wedding trip to unannounced points. The bride chose for her going-away ensemble a green wool knit dress with matching accessories and the orchid lifted from her bouquet. Mrs. Fuller graduated from John Graham High School In Warrenton and attended Hardbarger Business College In Raleigh and now holds a position as bookkeeper at Warren Auto Parts In Warrenton. Mr. Fuller graduate^ from John Graham High School In Warrenton and is presently engaged in farming. The couple will make their home on Rt. 2, Warrenton. After-Rehearsal Party Miss Eleanor Thompson and Mr. William Louis Fuller, Jr., were entertained at a cakecutting and after rehearsal party at the Warrenton Country Club on Saturday night, November 14, given by the parents of the bride and groom. Neal, sister of the groom, Mrs. Ethel T. O'Shea, aunt of the bride, Mrs. Forrest Cheek, Jr., of Warrenton and Mrs. A. B. Hair, III, of Norllna. After this, the group enjoyed dancing to taped music furnished by Mr. Vernon Steed of Warrenton. The club was beautifully decorated with fall flowers. Bridesmaid's Dinner Mrs. Harry Carter and Miss Anne Thompson of Warrenton entertained the bride-elect and her attendants at a steak dinner at the Warren Plaza Inn oil Saturday nlgtit, November14. At this time the bride-elect presented gifts to her attend MtS. Shower On Saturday night, November 7, aunts of the (room honored Miss Eleanor Thompson and Mr. WUllam Louis Fuller, jr., at a miscellaneous shower at the Aft on Club House. The h.moree received many nice and useful gifts. Club Members And Leaders Rake Leaves The Rldgeway 4-H Community Club members and leaders spent Saturday afternoon raking leaves for Mr. and Mrs. Grover Page at their home, Kee Way Din, on Gaston Lake. After the project was completed, Mr. and Mrs. Page rewarded the club members with a generous donation and a delicious wiener roast. This was enjoyed by the 12 present. — Linda Holtzman, Heporter. —
