Miss Marilyn Long And Mr. Willie Norwood Wed DURHAM • A six o'clock ceremony on Nov. 7 united In marriage Miss Marilyn Dlonne Long of Lake view Park here and Willie Lee Norwood, Jr., of Areola at the Church of God. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Raymond Bowers of Lakeview Park. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Norwood, Sr., of Areola. The Rev. Benjamin C. Horrell performed the double ring ceremony before an altar of yellow fall flowers, ferns and lighted tapers In branched candelabra arranged with yellow <&t7sarthemun]s and oak leaf clusters. Mrs. Hazel Allen, organist and Nick Downing, soloist provided a program of nuptial music. Given in marriage by her step-father, the bride wore a formal A-llne gown with a fitted silk angel skin peau and lace bodice embellished with seed pearls and scalloped lace at the high neckline. The long bishop sleeves ended with lace cuffs fastened with miniature covered buttons. Her chapel train was edged with double rows of matching scalloped lace. Her silk bouffant veil was attached to a forward petal headpiece of lace encrusted with pearls and tear drop crystals. She carried a cascade of chrysanthemums, carnations and lilies of the valley centered with white orchids. Miss Deborah Sharon Long was her sister's maid of honor. She wore an empire gown of crepe in alternating shades of green and gold with a matching headpiece of velvet and net. She carried a nosegay of bronze pompons, yellow baby's breath and valley lilies. Bridesmaids were Miss Brenda Clements of Hopewell, Va., cousin of the bride; Miss Jackie Bowers of Petersburg, Va., the bride's step-aunt; Mrs. Alfred Coleman of Prince George, Va., also her cousin and Miss Kittle Norwood of Areola and Mrs. Freddie Edwards of Loulsburg, the bridegroom's sisters. Flower girl was Miss Rhonda Dickens who carried a basket of yellow pompons and yellow baby's breath. They were dressed Identically to the honor attendant in gold or green gowns and the bridesmaids carried matching nosegays. Mr. Norwood, Sr., was his son's best man. Groomsmen were the Rev. Emmanuel Pegram of Greensboro, the bridegroom's brother - In - law; Freddie Edwards of Loulsburg, also a brother-in-law; Bruce Ayscue of Raleigh, his uncle; Danny Norwood of Hopewell, Va., cousin and Dwight Ayscue at Warrenton. The Rev. Pegram and Fred Philathea Class Has Cbristnas Party The V. L, Pendleton Baptist Philathea Class held Us annual Christmas party at the Norllna Clubhouse on Friday night with 90 guests, Including husbands at the members, present. A delicious three-course turkey dinner was served In holiday motif by membersoftbe Norllna Woman's Club. Red berries, greenery and lighted red tapers made a gay setting for the group. Mrs. E. R. Wood, president, presided. The Rev. Mack Thompson, pastor of the Warren ton Baptist Church, gave the welcome and presented the Rev. Ted Fuson of the Warren Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Fuson gave a delightful musical program, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Monroe Gardner. Carols were also sung. Miss Mamie Gardner, class teacher, was recognized and closed the meeting with prayer. Miss Benson Feted At Bridal Shower Miss Barbara Heath Benson, bride-elect of Dec. 20, was honored at a bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Earl H.Maynard, Jr., on Nov. 27 with Mrs. Maynard, Mrs. Gordon Halthcock, Mrs. James Peoples and Mrs. Forest Cheek, Jr., as hostesses. Miss Benson was presented a white corsage upon her arrival. Guests were greeted by Mris. Peoples and directed into the dining room by Mrs. Maynard. The refreshment table was decorated in a pink and white motif. Punch was poured by Mrs. Cheek. Cheese straws, nuts, and petlts fours were served to the 50 guests from Warrenton, Norllna and Nashville. Good-byes were said to Mrs. Haithcock. Miss Rose, Mr. Bolton To Wed On Sunday Miss Nancy Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Rose of Henderson, and Mr. Jerry A. Bolton will be married on Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Warren Plains Baptist Church. Friends and relatives are In-' vited to attend. die Edwards also served as acolytes. Mrs. Virginia Hazel wood was mistress of ceremonies. The bride is a 1968 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and has completed the key punch course at Raleigh School of Date Processing. She is employed at Albemarle Paper Co. here. The bridegroom was graduated from John Graham High School in Warrenton in 1965 and attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro. He served two years in the U. S. Army and is employed with his father at Norwood Pulp wood and Logging Co. For traveling, the bride wore a brown and white tweed ensemble and the orchid corsage from her bridal bouquet. Following their wedding trip, the couple will reside at the Wise Side Trailer Park here.
