After-Rehearsal Party
An after rehearsal party was
held in the Norlina Woman's
Club house on Saturday night
for the N'ewsome Rivers wed
ding party given by the groom's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Palmer
Newome.
Cake squares, nuts, mints,
cheese straws and ham biscuits
were served. A blue and
lavender color scheme was used
in decorating.
The couple elected this time
to present gifts to their
attendants.

The Sulphur Springs Baptist
Church group visited the home
on Tuesday evening. Those
attending were Mr. and Mrs.

George Avcook. The meeting
was opened with prayer by

eral songs. Three games of
bingo were played by the
residents. Mary Wallace. Lon

games as some ended in ties.

Randy Odom was presented
the school's top athletic award.
Warrior of the Year, at the
Warren Academy's annual
Athletic Awards Banquet held
at the Lion's Den on Wednes
day night of last week. The sec
ond award. Most Dedicated
Athlete of 1975-76, was
presented to Claude Burrows.
Monogram President Frank
Daniel presided over the
banquet, which was sponsored
by the Monogram Club. Coach
Bill Davis was the speaker and
Headmaster B. L. King was
called upon for special remarks.
Forty varsity letters were
awarded and 40 JV certificates
were presented as well as
trophies in the four sports at
the Academy.

Beautiful while they lasted,
the spring flowering bulbs are
fast fading away and leaving
masses of leaves to turn brown
and place a blotch on the
otherwise colorful land scape.
But don't be too quick to
remove this spring left-over.
North Carolina State Univer
sity extension specialists point
out that, during the period
when foliage is ripening, the
bulbs should be left alone. After
the foliage had died back, the
bulbs may be dug, divided,
cured and re set.
While you're waiting, you
might consider planting annual
flower seed in the bulb bed. A
good one is nasturtium, because
if has rather large seed which
can be poked into the ground
among the foliage of the bulbs.
