Charges Of Dog Law Violations Land Seven In District Court Seven charge* of allowing dogs to run at Urge in Warrenton were among the 26 cases tried before Judge Linwi.J T. Peoples of Henderson on Friday in a mixed session of district court. A, total of 15 continuations with four paid waivers cut short the number of cases to be tried with the following action taken on cases heard: Larry Donnell Alston, disorderly conduct, case dismissed. John Andrews, Tommy Blanks, Dr. Charles Bunch, Jimmy D. Roberts, and Niles Serls charged with allowing dog to run at large were given voluntary dismissals. Mrs. Nancy Blankenship, with two charges of allowing dog to run at. large, was also given a voluntary dismissal on each charge. Charles Lin wood Capps was given a voluntary dismissal on transporting broken sealed liquor charge and failure to drive right half of highway and driving under influence. On other charges of driving under influence and driving 65 in 55 mph zone, he was fined $150 and court costs, ordered to attend alcoholic control course at area mental health clinic and «at the end of six months, the court will give consideration to allowing a limited driving privilege. RODWELL Norlina Native On Va. Town Council Eddie L. Rodwell a native of Norlina, was elected to the Town Council in Amherst, Va., Tuesday, May 4th. Rodwell, the son of the late Pink Rodwell of Norlina, is married to the former Jessie D. Thompson of Amherst. Rodwell is employed by Babcock & Wilcox Company and, during the eighteen years with B&W, has served in various capacities. Presently he is the Supervisor of Mail, Transportation, Shipping & Receiving and Office Supplies. Also, he is responsible for maintenance of all copy machines at the B&W NPGD Division. Rodwell is president of the Amherst County Voter's League and vice chairman of the Amherst County Democratic Executive Committee. Rodwell served five years in the United States Army and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Rodwell is the first black in the town history to hold such an office of Town Councilman. Local Woman Gets Medical Degree Jo Ann Davis Jones, of Warrenton, was one of 123 students at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill who received the doctor of medicine (M.D.) degree in commencement exercises Sunday, May 9. Dr. Jones, daughter of Mrs. Leora H. Davis, of Rt. 2, Norlina, and the late George F. Davis, received honors in pediatrics, psychiatry and dermatology. She was a member of the Student National Medical Association. Her B. A. degree in Biology was gained from UNC-Greensboro and she attended John R. Hawkins high " school. Married to Carl R. Jones, of Chicago, 111., Dr. Jones will begin her residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minn., in July. They have one son, Derek. Total meat production of 1975 was down 3 per cent from the previoft year. The John Hancock building in Boston ha« 11,000 glass windows. Eugene Samuel Carpenter, jr., driving 70 in 55 mph zone, called and failed. Ordered arrested (or appearance on June 4 with bond set at $100. Percell Downey, two charges of forgery and one charge of unauthorized opening, defendant waived right to preliminary hearing in each case and ordered to appear at next criminal session of Superior Court to answer charges with bond to remain in effect. Moses L. Hendricks, nonsupport, voluntary dismissal. Raymond Jones, possession of nontaxpaid whiskey and possession for sale, ordered to jail for two years, suspended for five years on condition that he remain of good behavior, not have any non-taxpaid whiskey in his possession during the five year suspended sentence, not have over the legal limit of ABC whiskey, not have more than five persons in his home at one time, that he allow any law enforcement officer to search his person or his premises without a search warrant, and that he pay fine of $100 and court costs and attorney fees. The whiskey ordered to be destroyed. Robert A. Meyers, assault, motion to dismiss charges due to lack of evidence allowed and case dismissed. P. K. Person, larceny of dogs, voluntary dismissal. Horace Hudd, public drunkenness. ordered to jail for 20 days, suspended for one year on the condition he attend alcoholic control course at area mental clinic beginning immed iately. Remit cost. Floyd Shearin, possession of liquor for sale, motion for dismissal allowed and case dismissed. Lucy Shearin, possession of intoxicating beverage and possession for purpose of sale, ordered to N. c. Dept. of Correction for women prisoners for two years, suspended for five years on conditions that she remain of good behavior, not violate any State or Federal Criminal Laws. Fined $100 and court costs, she is not to have in her possession or on the premises more than one pint of intoxicating beverage, allow any law enforcement officer to search her person or premises without a search warrant. Whiskey to be destroyed. Percy Taljey, nonsupport. prayer for judgment continued until motion of the court to bring this back before court. Forest Eugene Vaughan, nonsupport, prayer for judgment continued. Cynthia Cheek Morris vs. Ralph Regis Morris, III, absolute divorce granted. Leon Jones vs. Patricia Green Jones, ab-«lute divorce granted.
