Zion Activities Listed
The Zion Women's Society
of Christian Service will meet
on Monday. Feb. 7, at 7:30 p. m.

Norwood. Members are en

The Zion Choir will have a

The Annie Armstrong Circle
of the Norlina Baptist Church
met last week in the home of
Mrs. Mae Shearin,
Mrs. Reatrice Setzer. chairman.
lead the croup with
scripture and shared a thought
entitled "AWOI, from Christ."
Mrs. Ann Mulchi presented
the program about missionary
kids, closinir with prayer.
Mrs. Shearin served delicious

Mrs. Mabry Elected President
Of Norlina Senior Social Club
Mrs. Joyce Mabry was
elected president of the Norlina
Senior Social Club at the
meeting held Thursday, Jan. 27
at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Cornelia Wiggins was
elected vice-president with
Mrs. Martha Draffin being
named treasurer and Mrs.
Sudie Coleman, secretary. Mrs.
Ellen Moselev was elected Tour
Transportation Committee
Chairperson.
Hostesses for the meeting
were the ladies of St. Paul's,
Mrs. Herman Seaman, Mrs.
Paul Brauer, Mrs. Carl
Holtzman and Mrs. Mollie
Paschall.
The pastor, the Rev. David
Dudley, gave a challenging
devotional to the 46 in
attendance.
Mrs. Sudie Coleman, club
president, introduced Mrs.
Former President Harry
Truman so loved to read that
by the age of 14 he had finished
all the books in the Independence,
Missouri library.
Edith Comer, who gave a
verbal tribute to the founders
and leaders of the club and to
the outstanding leadership of
Mrs. Sudie Coleman. Mrs.
Mollie Haithcock. Mrs. Mary
Brauer and Mrs. Martha
Draffin, who served as officers
for the past year. In conclusion,
the Rev. G. Elton Cooke was
given a warm and gracious
salute by Mrs. Comer.
During the business session,
plans were begun for a spring
tour to be discussed at the
February meeting and it was
decided that the February
meeting would be a gift
meeting. All members and
guests who come are asked to
bring a wrapped gift with a
special series of games planned
to distribute them.
The birthday celebrants
were recognized for January.
The program was "Call Mv
Bluff." Two teams attempted to
outhluff each other. The
reigning champs and receivers
of "Best Bluffer" awards were
Mrs. I/>uise Haithcock. Mrs
Mollie Haithcock and the Rev.
David Dudley.
The next meeting will be
Feb. 24 at 2 p. m. at the Norlina
United Methodist Church. Band
practice will he held.
Members are reminded to
bring band instruments and the
gift for the February meeting.
The hand will perform March
17 at Hollister.
