Adams, formerly secretary and legal counsel of The Northwestern Bank, has been promoted to senior vice president and legal counsel. He also continues as secretary. Adams, who joined the bank in 1975, is responsible for all bank legal matters and all functions of the corporate secretary. Adams, a native of Warrenton. received a degree in economics from Davidson College in 1962 and his masters from East Carolina University in 1963. He began his banking career with Citizens & Southern National Bank in Atlanta in 1963 and joined Northwestern in 1966. He was named assistant vice president of Northwestern in 1967 and vice president in 1968. Adams then returned to Law School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1970 with a J. D. Degree with Honors. While in Law School, Adams served on the staff of the North Carolina Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. From 1970 to 1975, Adams was engaged in private law practice; first with the firm of Adams, Klemeier. Hagan. Hannah and Fouts in Greensboro and then with the firm of McElwee & Hall in North Wilkesboro. Adams is also an officer and ADAMS director of various other subsidiaries of Northwestern Financial Corporation and of Nancy King- Textiles. Inc.. of North Wilkesboro. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina State Rar and the North Carolina Bar Association, where he serves on the Corporate Counsel Subcommittee. Adams is married to the former Nancy King Newton of North Wilkesboro and they have two children. Bill and Elizabeth. They reside in the Oakwoods County Club area. Miss Briley And Mr. Dillard To Wed The Rev. and Mrs. James H. Rrilev of Oxford announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter. A graduate of East Carolina 1'niversitv. the bride-elect is employed as a social worker for the Granville County Depart ment of Social Services. Her fiance is self-employed as a farmer in Warren County. The wedding is planned for March 27 at West Oxford Baptist Church. Ruritanettes Meet The Afton-Elberon Ruritanettes held their regular meeting on Monday night at the home of Mrs. Hazel Carter. The meeting was called to order by Mrs. Ann Brown, president. Old business was discussed. During the new business, a money-making project was discussed. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Hazel Carter and Mrs. Magnora Davis. The next meeting will be held Feb. 21. Supper Planned The annual George Washington supper will be held at the Macon Firehouse. Saturday. Feb. 19. beginning at 5 p. m. Fried chicken, ham, various vegetables and salads, rolls, beverage and dessert will he served buffet style. Tickets are $2.75 for adults and $1.75 for children. Take-out plates will be available. Pancake Supper The Afton-Elberon Ruritan Club will have a pancake supper at the Afton-Elberon Clubhouse on Friday. Feb. 11, from 6 to 9 p. m. Local Students On Dean's List Two local students are among 437 Meredith College students named to the dean's list for the fall semester. For a student to be named to the dean's list at Meredith, she must have a semester grade average of at least 3.2 out of a possible 4.0 and must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours. Named from this area were Anne C. Crawley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Crawley of Littleton and Cheryl A. Shearin. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Shearin of Rt. 1. VVarrenton. Two Warren County students attained the dean's list at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the first semester. They are Clyde R. Perkinson, an art major and son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Perkinson of Rt. 1. Macon and Mrs. Sandra P. Washburg. an art education major from Rt. 1. Norlina. Infant Baptized A sacrament of holy baptism was administered to John Benjamin Crawley, III, threemonth old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Crawley. Jr.. on Sunday. Feb. 6. in St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Raleigh. The Rev. Lawrence K. Brown, associate rector, administered the baptismal service. Godparents of the child were Mr. and Mrs. Larry T. Hill of Charlottesville. Va.. and Joseph W. Dean of Raleigh. Among those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Jack B. Crawley, Sr.. grandparents, Mrs. Ethel Quails of Hollister and Mrs. S. H. HUNTER DKUG COMPANY PRESCRIPTIONS CALLED FOR AND DELIVERED I JGHS News Column By KAREN HILL1ARD Teachers at John Graham are buay trying to persuade the students to settle down from the second half of the school year. Report cards were issued last week and there were many smiles and a few frowns as they viewed nine weeks' grades and semester averages. Miss Barbara Martin from the Warren County Health Department informed students in various English classes on Monday and Tuesday of one of the major health problems in the United States. Sickle Cell Anemia. Miss Martin explained several facts about the disease and the sickle cell trait. The students viewed a film and received booklets concerning the disease. Wednesday faculty and students followed the activity schedule with several clubs meeting. A representative from Louisburg College visited to talk with students interested in the college. The second delivery of class rings was made Wednesday. Practice has begun for the annual Miss John Graham" pageant which is sponsored by the French Club at John Graham. This will be the third pageant and perhaps the best. Congratulations to Donna Wheeler, a senior at JG, who won second place in the public speaking event at the District III Future Business Leaders of America's Competitive Events held last Saturday morning at Louisburg College. Friday, Feb. 11, will be one of the most exciting days during the basketball season. The day has been proclaimed Blue and Gold Day" by the Student Council Association and cheerleaders will boost spirits higher with a Pep Rally. Of course the big occasion is the basketball game with the Norlina Blue Waves. This is the last game of the regular season for the yellow jackets as well as a conference game. The excitement will be in the JG gymnasium Friday night and everyone is urged to come cheer the Jackets on to victory! Miss Crisp And Mr. Hunt To Wed Miss Nancy Jo Crisp and Mr. Michael Travis Hunt of Raleigh will be married February 19 in the First United Methodist Church of Cary at 4 p. m. Miss Crisp is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crisp of Coffeeville, Kan. Mr. Hunt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Lee Hunt, Sr., of Cary, and the grandson of Mrs. Lois Hunt and the late John Henry Hunt of Warrenton. The couple will make their home in Raleigh. r Meeting Planned The Warren County Board of Health will hold a quarterly meeting at 8 p. m.
