In Memoriam In memory of Mr. Len Sims who departed this life March 10. 1976. Daddy, just a year ago you ;ft us so quickly. We never ealized what pain we could feel ntil God called you home. We ljought we loved you most, but low Daddy, we realize God loved you even more because e took you away from all your ches and pains. Your memory Sngers on in our heart. Your daughters, Mamie, Earnestine, Ada, Pearl — cannot say and I will not say hat he is dead—he is just ^way! With a cheery smile, and ji wave of the hand, he has ivandered into an unknown and, and left us dreaming how Irerv fair it needs must be, since te lingers there. Your wife and son, Mollie and harles — good man never dies, in orthv deed and prayer. And raver and helpful hands, and onest eves, if smiles or tears ie there: who lives for you and (Tie live for the world he tries to ^ielp he lives "eternally. Nwrt M HtNOtlSOW, N C. 37534 The shift is Hue to an increase in the number of families in the affluent earning brackets, according to a report in the March issue of FINANCE FACTS, a newsletter on financial behavior published by consumer finance companies. In 1958 almost half of all married men without jobs were heads of families with incomes less than $7,000 in the previous year. Now. about 30 per cent in the earning bracket are jobless. In the late 50's, close to 7 per cent of all unemployed married men Were in the $15.000-and-over bracket but now the figure is"2S per cent. Blacks, women and youth are among the hardest hit by unemployment. Joblessness among blacks is almost twice that of whites. For women, the unemployment ratio exceeds 9 percent. For men it is less than 7 per cent. For young white males the ratio exceeds 14 per cent, while for young black males it is almost 25 per cent. Young people under 25 years, male and female, account for some three quarters of the total increase in the number of jobless. Despite all this, the actual number of persons now employed is at near-record levels. Except for month-tomonth fluctuations, employment has been growing since early 1975. Almost threefifths of the expansion of the labor force over the past two decades is accounted for bv women. Put iron-on patches inside the knees of children's new jeans.
