Warren Women Attend Homemakers Meeting In Raleigh By BERTHA B. FORTE Economic* Agent Forty-three Warren County Extension Homemakers were among the 718 attending the North Central District Annual Extension Homemaker's Day, April 13 at the Jane S. McKimmon Educational Center in Raleigh. The theme for the day's program was "The Third Century Woman." Mrs. Janice Siler, Department of Pastoral Care, N. C. Baptist Hospitals, Inc., Winston-Salem, highlight ed the program when she spoke on the subject "As A Third Century Woman." She said "women in the third century have many choices, many opportunities. It's important to know what time it is in your life, make choice and make committments. The woman must know where her support system is and who it is. Being faced with many changes, new decisions must be made, so the woman must be responsible." Mrs. Siler stated that husband and wife should communicate and plan together. She mentioned the importance of the extended family, the importance of parenting and mothering. As third century women, we must learn how to reach out to others. Mrs. Cindy Howell, associate home economics extension agent of Johnson County, presented a program on "Scarf Tricks." She demonstrated many different ways in which scarves can be worn. Following Mrs. Howell's presentation, a group of homemakers from the 16 counties in the district participated in a revue of "Fashions For The Third Century Woman." Taking part in the revue from Warren County, wearing dress up outfits, were Mrs. Jake Norwood of the Zion Extension Homemakers Club, Mrs. Maxwell Howard, Olive Grove Club and Mrs. J. B. Russell, Coley Spring Club. A district craft exhibit was on display with craft items in the areas of stitchery, ceramics, sculpture, creative crafts, and painting. Extension homemakers from Warren County with items in the district exhibit were Mrs. L. M. Bender, stitchery; Mrs. C. E. Swenson, Jr., ceramics; Mrs. A1 Young, sculpture and painting; and Mrs. F. F. Fleming, creative crafts. Mrs. A1 Young's sculpture won first place in the district and will be entered in the state competition. Mrs. Leroy Wilson of Orange County and president of the North Central District Extension Homemakers Association presided over the day's program. Greetings and remarks were given by Mrs. M. C. Burt, Sr., president of Orange County council of extension homemakers; Grover Dobbins, North Central district School Officials To Attend Meet School board members and school officials from eight North Carolina school systems will gather next Wednesday for the annual meeting for District 6 of the North Carolina School Boards Association. According to Mrs. Mary Gentry, District 6 president and a member of the Walce County Board of Education, the meeting will begin at 4:30 p. m. and will be held at Lynn Road Elementary School in Raleigh. State Representative Sam Bundy of Pitt County will be the speaker at the banquet session of the meeting, scheduled to begin at 6:45 p. m. A series of small group discussions are scheduled for the late afternoon portion of the meeting, focusing on issues of interest to participants. Among issues discussed will be programs in "Community Schools," the Report of the "Renfrow" Commission ji\ Recodification of the Public School Laws and the new State Course of Study with minimum graduation requirements. District 6 of the School Board Association includes school systems in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Vance, Wake and Warren counties. Those winning door prizes from Warren County were Mrs. Lovelace Hinton of the Wise Club, Mrs. J. 0. Houzmann and Mrs. L. M. Bender of Zion Club, and Mrs. William Lawrence and Mrs. Simmie Isles of Fellowship Club. \ In addition to the ladies who won door prizes, others attending the annual event were: from the Drewry Club, Mrs. A1 Young, Mrs. Felix Ranes, Mrs. F.
