the Macon Methodist Church on
Sunday, April 17, at three
o'clock Miss Sheila Lynne
Williams became the bride of
David Michael Martin. The
Rev. Floyd Morrow performed
the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr.and Mrs. Bernard Williams
of Macon. The groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Martin,
Jr., of Oine.

The Raleigh Garden and Fun
Club toured several Warrenton

Mrs. Bruce Bell, and the
gardens of Mr. and Mrs. Shipp
McCarroll and Mr. and Mrs.
Jesse Martin.

Miss Edith Louise Robertson
has been named to the dean's
list at Hardbarger Business
College for the third quarter.
She is the daughter of Mr. and

and brass spiral candelabra.
Given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore a
formal empire gown of
chiffonette trimmed with
Venise lace featuring a high
neckline and long full sleeves
with lace inserts and deep
double lace cuffs and flounced
floor length skirt trimmed in
lace. Her matching veil was
trimmed with Alencon lace. She
carried a nosegay of white
carnations and pink roses and
babies breath.
Miss Bonnie Williams was
her sister's maid of honor. She
wore a lavender gown of
polyester crepe, fashioned with
V-neck and long full sleeves and
carried a nosegay of daisies,
pom poms and pink sweetheart
roses.
Bridesmaids were Miss
Susan Williams, sister of the
bride. Miss Vickie Martin,
sister of the groom, and Mrs.
Kaye Hall. The attendants
wore pastel gowns and carried
nosegays identical to the honor
attendant.
Mr. Martin served as his
son's best man. Ushers were
Wayne Martin and Randy
Martin, brothers of the groom,
and James Mathews, Jr.
Mrs. Elree Hilliard served as
mistress of ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of
John Graham High School and
Louisburg College and is
employed at Roses in Henderson.
The groom is a graduate of
Norlina High School and is
employed in Oine.
After a wedding trip to the
mountains, the couple will
make their home in Oine.
After Rehearsal Party
Following the rehearsal, the
wedding party was entertained
at the Macon Fire House.
The refreshment table bore a
white satin cloth centered with
pastel flower arrangements and
burning tapers.
A three-tiered wedding cake
topped with a miniature bride
and groom was served by Mrs.
Elree Hilliard while Mrs. James
Williams poured punch. Nuts,
mints and cheese straws were
also served.
The bride and groom chose
this time to present gifts to the
wedding party.

Meet In Lee Home
Mrs. Luther Lm wu hostess
to the Warren County Chapter,
United Daughters of the
Confederacy, at her home,
Friday, at 3:00 p. m. Mr*.
Thomas Ellington presided.
Mrs. John Kerr, Jr., reported
that two new members had
been registered; Mrs. James
Hope Bullock and Mrs. Nancy
Peete Blankenship. Mrs. Bullock
was welcomed at the
chapter meeting.
Mrs. R. G. Norwood reported
that a large number of crutch
pads had been delivered to the
Veterans' Hospital, Durham,
and that the administration was
most grateful and said that
they were badly needed.
A report of the annual
district meeting which was held
in Spring Hope was given by
Mrs. Henry F. Twitty and Mrs.
John Kerr, who represented
the chapter. Mrs. Twitty told of
plans for the dedication on the
N. C. UDC Headquarters
building in Raleigh in May, and
tentative plans concerning this
were worked out.
Mrs. Lee gave a most
interesting historical program
on General Thomas J. (Stonewall)
Jackson.
On arrival, the members
were served a sweet course by
the hostess, assisted by Mrs. G.
W. Franklin.
Following the meeting the
members enjoyed the beautiful
flower arrangements throughout
the house and the formal
garden at the back.
Activities Listed
At Warren Plaza
The Warren Piaza residents
have had many activities
recently. The activity bus
carried many of the residents
on a tour around the town and
in the country on April 1.
Another bus of residents went
to Pleasant Hill Rest Home in
Roanoke Rapids on April 2 to
visit friends and watch the
movies shown there on
Saturday. Popcorn and Koolaid
were served with the movies.
The church group from
Mount Zion Baptist Church
held a worship service at the
Plaza on April 3. Refreshments
were served after the service.
Columbus Bryant had visits
from his daughter, Mrs. Edna
Denton, her husband and
daughter on April 3. Garland
Price had visits from Mr. and
Mrs. Rodger Gupton and a lady
from the Motor Freight
Restaurant in Henderson. They
also brought him gifts.
Mrs. Fanny Kaczamarck has
gone home for a few days
because of the death of her
mother. Deepest regret and
sympathy were extended to
her.
The Woman's Club from
Macon served fruit, cookies,
candy and other goodies to
brighten the day on April 7.
On April 8 the residents saw,
"Mystery of the Deep," "Large
animals of the Arctic" and
"Animals of the Sand and Sea,"
for their Friday night movies.
Popcorn and Koolaid were
served.
Easter eggs and other
refreshments were served to all
residents by Mrs. Emma Alston,
Mrs. Mable Davis, Mrs.
Marie Block and Nathan Block
on April 9. A bus load of residents
went again to Pleasant
Hill to view the movies on this
day. On the way home, they
stopped in Roanoke Rapids at
MacDonalds for hamburgers
and drinks.
On April 12 a bus load of
residents from Warren Plaza
and Pleasant Hill Rest Home
traveled to Halifax for the
bicentennial activities.
Raymond Johnson spent the
Easter weekend with friends
and relatives in Rocky Mount.
Edgar Bullock spent the Easter
weekend with his brother,
Melvin Bullock in Middleburg.
Mrs. Sarah Mayle and Jake
Stegall had visits recently.
Bernard Wentz received a box
of fruit for his birthday from a
friend, Mrs. Hilliard, of Macon.
All the residents from the
Plaza will have their teeth
cleaned and other dental work
done as soon as appointments
can be made with Dr.
Henderson in Warrenton.
Parents Join Pupils
In Holiday Luncheon
A pre-Easter luncheon was
prepared and served by Mrs.
Florence Sommerville and staff
to 69 parents on April 6 at
South Warren School. Following,
and prior to, lunch, parents
visited classrooms and the Title
I Reading Programs. It was an
enjoyable event of the day for
parents, students and faculty.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Lewis Peoples of Elberon announce the
engagement of their daughter, Betsy Ann, to Grady J Haynes,
III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Grady J Haynes, Jr., of Warrenton. The
wedding will be July 10 at 3 p. m. at Sulphur Springs Baptist
Church. All friends and relatives are invited.

Tell You a Mystery."
