Mr. and Mrs. Edward Earl Riggan of Macon announce the
engagement of their niece, Phyllis Ann Wilson, to Howitt
Michael Carter, son of Mrs. Ada Carter of Manson and H. M.
Carter of Favetteville. Miss Wilson is the granddaughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Wilson of Afton. A June 25 wedding is
planned. No invitations are being sent, but all friends and
relatives are invited to attend. '

Visiting In East
Miss Roselourdes Mejia,
exchange student at John
Graham High School, is visiting
eastern North Carolina this
week. She left Sunday to visit
Campbell College in Buies
Creek and learn of campus life
in the United States. Tuesday
she went to Wilmington to visit
the port city.
Rosa is from the coast of
Nicaragua and will probably
enjoy our beaches.

Junior Class Gets
Look At Peace
High school juniors from
throughout the state and from
neighboring states visited
Peace College campus April
23-24 during visitation week
end.
Attending from this area
were Robin Burgess, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John B.
Burgess of Warrenton.
The visitors got an intimate
look at the church-related
junior college for women,
enjoyed recreational activities,
attended a performance of the
student production of "The
Fantasticks" in the campus
theatre, and attended worship
services in the chapel on
Sunday morning.

Mrs. Robert Harris has been
named to direct Halifax
County's "Kiss Your Baby"
Cystic Fibrosis campaign in the
Hollister area.
Campaign funds are used to
help support research and care
in children's lung-damaging
diseases such as asthma with
lung damage, chronic bron
chitis, bronchiectasis, childhood
emphysema, and cystic fibrosis.
The major symptom of cystic
fibrosis is a salty taste of the
skin, frequently noticed by
parents when kissing their
baby. CF is an inherited and
incurable disease and can affect
not only the lungs but also the
digestive system. It is believed
that one in 20 persons are
carriers of the recessive CF
gene.

has come in the person of a rag doll and another stuffed doll, e
hope this will create interest in reading about him. Two
"Pinocchio" books are WAY OVERDUE, please return now.
Art students of Mrs. David Dudley will have their work on
exhibit in May for Library month. "Open House will be held
Sunday, May 1, from 2 p. m. to 5 p. m. The outside trim of the
Library is being painted through the courtesy of the Warren
County Art program, and we are most appreciative.

Warren Plaza Activities
On April 16 the Saturday trip
to Pleasant Hill Rest Home in
Roanoke Rapids to show
movies was cancelled because
the film did not arrive from
Raleigh. The group enjoyed a
bus ride to Kerr Dam and had a
picnic instead. On the way back
to Warrenton, the approxi
mately 20 residents stopped at
Lucky's Drive In.
Friday night at the movies
included "Doorway to the
Past," "Jamestown—The First
English Settlement in Amer
ica," "The Renaissance, Its
Beginning in Italy," and "Julius
Ceasar-—The Rise of the Roman
Empire," and was shown on
April 22. Popcorn and Kool aid
were served as refreshments.
On April 23, the group did
attend the movie at Pleasant
Hill Rest Home in Roanoke
Rapids. Later they stopped for
Cokes.

Is Christened
Sam Pierce Harrell, III,
infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam
P. Harrell, Jr., of Grand
Prairie, Tex,, was christened
during the morning worship
service at Emmanuel Fpiscopal
Church on April 24. The Rev.
Robert Orvis performed the
holy baptism.

Ends Training
Marine Private Lewis K.
Jones, son of Ezekiel Jones of
Littleton, has completed recruit
training at the Marine Corps
Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.
C.
During the 11-week training
cycle, he learned the basics of
battlefield survival.
He participated in an active
physical conditioning program
and gained proficiency in a
variety of military skills,
including first aid, rifle marks
manship and close order drill.
He joined the Marine Corps
in December, 1976.

Warren Plaza Rest Home
during the past week. They are
Georginhia Peele, Tas Faucette
and Annie B. Hardy.
Approximately 20 of the
residents received their annual
physicals during the week. The
people at Dr. Charles Bunch's
office helped in getting the
physicals done.
Joe Jones, Mamie Pinkette,
William Wilson and Jake
Sawyer are in Warren General
Hospital and Willie Swinson is
in South Hill, Va., in a hospital.
The residents of the Plaza hope
these residents ran return to
the Plaza soon.
Bake Sale Set
The Macon Baptist Church
W.M.U. will sponsor a bake sale
on Friday, April 29, at the AAA
gas office. The sale will start at
9 a. m. There will be a variety
of baked items, luncheon plates
and sandwiches.
