For Harris-Davis Vows
The sanctuary of the
Union Grove Baptist Church
was the setting on Saturday
afternoon, June 25, at three
o'clock for the wedding of
Miss Natalie Rose Davis
and Larry Ervin Harris.
The Rev. Paul Davis
officiated at the double-ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred R.
Davis of Rt. 2, Warrenton.
Mr. Harris is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Harris of
Warrenton.
Given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore a
formal gown trimmed with

veil. She carried segay
of blue and white cat nations
with baby's breath.
Mrs. Glendora Powell
rendered nuptial music and
Miss Ellen Jones of Trenton,
N. J., sang, "The Lord's
Prayer."
Miss Lytonia Harris,
sister of the groom, was
maid of honor. She wore a
pink gown and carried an
arm bouquet of pink
carnations.
Bridesmaids were Mrs.
Rebecca Russell, aunt of the
bride, Miss Ruby Baskett
and Miss Diane Davis. They
wore blue gowns.
Miss Coretta Jones of
Trenton, N. J., was flower
girl. Master Robert Russell
was ring bearer. Both were
cousins of the bride.
Ronald Harris was his
brother's best man. Ushers
were Alfred R. Davis,
brother of the bride, Tony
Griggs and Jimmie Griggs,
Senior Citizens
Visit Gardens
Amid showers, a group of
Senior Citizens and several
Pre-Seniors left Warrenton
on Thursday morning, via
charter bus for Busch
Gardens in Williamsburg,
Va.
En route, the devotional
period, by Mrs. Mabel H.
Davis, was centered around
the theme, "Today is Ours,"
and the Thought for Today
emphasized that, "God has
given to each of us TODAY.
It is Ours — Tomorrow is
still in His hands." Mrs.
-Eliza Durham offered th«
invocation, and the group
sang, "Precious Lord," and
"The More We Get Together."
Each passenger received
a bag containing gifts, and
many of them enjoyed
playing several games,
including "Where Letters
Are Equal," "Scrambled
Flowers," and "About the
U.S.A." Prize winners were
Mesdames Annie M. Alston
and Nannie H. Hudgins.
The four oldest ladies,
whose ages ranged from
77-80, received gifts. They
were Mesdames Eliza Durham,
Alice Braxton, Vera
Watts, and Marie Jones.
Dawn Edgerton, the youngest
passenger, also received
a gift.
The weather at Busch
Gardens was Just perfect,
the experiences delightful,
the trip enjoyable, and on
return everyone was wished
a safe trip home.

Mrs. Rebecca Davis and
Mrs. Florence Williams.
The mothers of the couple
were presented a long
stemmed rose.
Mrs. Glen Davis and Mrs.
Daisy Hunt directed the
wedding.
The groom is a graduate
of John Graham High School
and the Raleigh School of
Data Processing. He is
presently employed at Cochrane
Furniture Co.
Mrs. Harris is a graduate
of John Graham High School
and will be entering nursing
school in the fall.
The couple will make their
home on Halifax Street in
Warrenton.
Rehearsal
Following the rehearsal
on Friday night, Mr. and
Mrs. Fred G. Harris
entertained the wedding
party with a cook-out at
their home. Mrs. Melvin
Green and Mrs. Frank
Tucker assisted with the
serving.
Shower
Miss Natalie Davis was
honored at a miscellaneous
shower on June 17 at the
home of Mrs. Roy Alston.
Hosting the occasion were
Mrs. Alonza Jones and Mrs.
Glen Davis. Special guest
was Mrs. Alfred Davis,
mother of the bride.
Chicken salad, potato
chips, mints and nuts were
served and punch was
poured by Mrs. Alston.
Tunstall-Fogg
Wedding Slated
The marriage of Phyllis
Ann Fogg to Richard
Clayton Tunstall will be held
on July 2 at 3 p. m. at
Greenwood Baptist Church.
A reception will be held
immediately following the
wedding at the Lions Den.
All friends and relatives are
invited to attend.
Local Baptists
Conduct School
Daily Vacation Bible
School was held at the
Warrenton Baptist Church
on Bragg Street June 20-24.
The theme of the school was
"The God of Creation."
Worship services were
held daily with the main
feature being a character
story given by the pastor.
Pupils reported to various
groups for Bible study, art,
music and recreation. Refreshments
were served
daily.
On Friday during the
closing period a filtnstrip on
worship and the theme was
shown. A short progfamwas
rendered by each group. Art
work was displayed and
certificates were awarded
to each pupil and instructor.
A watermelon fe*st was
enjoyed again this yiar. The
melons were donated by
church members. >
The enrollment' (or the
week included <11 pupils, 11
teachers, five helpers and
seven adults. Mrs. La vine
E. McGrier directed the
Vacation Bible School. The
Rev. W. Y a rborough is
pastor of the church.
