News From Warren Plaza
By CHUCK SIMMONS
Many of the residents at
Warren Plaza welcome the
rains that we have been
having the past week.
Several of the male resi
dents are busy planting and
working in our garden, and
there is much talk of the
fresh vegetables that every
one anticipates getting from
our garden.
The management of War
ren Plaza Rest Home is
happy to announce that Ms.
Alice Johnson, who is
presently living in Hender
son, has been employed to
train and work as assistant
manager to John Phillips,
manager. Everyone wel
comes her and hopes that
she will enjoy her job for
some time to come.
As much as everyone
welcomed the much needed
rain this past week, many
residents were disappointed
that the weekly trip by bus
had to be cancelled. Many of
the residents here at Warren
Plaza have no family or
friends to come visit and
take them on trips, such as
the ones we now take to
lakes each week and the
other places that we are
able to visit now that we
have an activity bus. We had
planned a joint picnic with
the residents from Pleasant
Hill Rest Home in Roanoke
Rapids, to travel to Lake
Gaston, but due to the bad
weather the picnic was re
scheduled for another time.
At the present time, there
is no scheduled weekly
worship service at the
Plaza. In the past we have
enjoyed \ various groups
from the local churches in
our community. Everyone
here has expressed how
much they have enjoyed the
past services and hope that
someone will be able to
come and have service with
them in the near future, or
perhaps someone, or some
groups that have never been
the Warren Plaza will do so
in the near future.

the old Hawkins home
behind Schools Days might
be used, but received no
encouragement, as she was

said it was not repairable.
Mrs. Hight said that
Senior Citizens homes would
