FRANK SERLS
Funeral services for
Frank Serls, 83, of Eaton
Avenue, were conducted at 3
p m. Saturday from Blaylock
Funeral Home Chapel
by the Rev. William Crouch.
Burial was in Fairview
Cemetery.
Mr. Serls died at Warren
General Hospital on Thursday
of last week after a long
illness He was a retired
farmer and hardware dealer
in Warrenton and a
veteran of World War I. His
wife, Myrtle Loyd Serls,
died this past May.
Surviving are a son, Niles
E. Serls of Warrenton; two
daughters, Mrs. Mavis S.
Utley of Portsmouth, Va.,
and Mrs. Joanne S. Amandson
of Virginia Beach, Va.;
one brother, Andrew Wilker
Serls of Pauline, S. C.; six
grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Eddie
Clayton, Egerton Rideout,
Harold Harris, B. G. White,
Serls Atkins, Jack Atkins.
FRANK BARLOW
Frank Barlow, 71, of
Hollister died Sunday morning
at South Hill, Va.,
Community Hospital following
a short illness.
He was a retired chief
warrant officer of the U. S.
Navy, and had lived near
Areola since his retiement.
Memorial rites were held
at 11 a m. Wednesday at the
Harris Chapel Baptist
Church by the Revs. Roy
Porter and Richard Shaw.
Burial was in the Bethlehem
United Methodist Church
Cemetery.
Surviving are iiis wife,
Mrs. Elnora Gupton Barlow;
a daughter. Barbara B.
Overby of Mansfield, Ohio;
two sons, Bobby Barlow of
Bealsville, Md., and Kenneth
Barlow of Charlotte; a
sister, Mrs. Ann B. Malone
of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; a
brother, 0. W. Barlow of
Prescott, Ariz.; and eight
grandchildren.

ROXBORO—Dr. Dewey
Monroe Clayton, III, 54, of
Roxboro died Sunday night
at his residence on Kappa
Drive after a possible
drowning or coronary attack
while swimming in his
swimming pool.
He was a native of Person
County.
He was a graduate of
Mary Potter High School in
Oxford. He was a 1947
graduate of Johnson C.
Smith University.
He received his medical
degree from Meharry Medical
College in Nashville,
Tenn., in 1956.
Clayton served a rotating
internship for one year at
Community General Hospital
in Reading, Pa.
In 1957, he established a
medical practice in Roxboro.
Subsequently, he joinedJ
th* medical staff at
Person Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of
Kappa Alphi Psi, the Old
North State Medical Society,
the National Medical
Association, the board of
trustees of Johnson C. Smith
University, the Person
County Medical Society, the
North Carolina Academy of
Family Physicians and the
American Academy of Family
Practice.
He was a member of St.
Mark's Episcopal Church.
The funeral was held at
noon Wednesday in St.
Mark's Episcopal Church by
the Rev. Joe Rivers and the
Rev. Harry Jackson. Burial

A CORRECTION
In the account of the
funeral of Charles Raymond
Loyd, published in this
newspaper on June 30, it
was stated that Mr. Loyd
died Tuesday; he died
Monday. The name of a
brother, W. E. Loyd, was
also omitted from the list of
survivors. The Warren
Record regrets both the
errors and the delay in
making the correction.

job safety improvements

ordered to jail for one year,
suspended for five years on,
the condition that he remain
of good behavior and not
violate any state or federal
crimal laws and that he not
assault or molest anyone in
