Artists In Our Midst
By SUSAN SIMMONS
This week's artist in our
midst is Irene A. Hinton.
Her oil paintings and
collages are on exhibit in the
Window Works Gallery at
the Cash Company on Main
Street. The Window Works
Gallery is sponsored by the
Warrenton Arts Commission.
Mrs. Hinton has been
working lately to develop
her ability to realistically
represent landscapes. Her
landscape subject matter
has been Warren County
and Warrenton. Irene lives
in Wise and is a native of
Warren County.
Although Mrs. Hinton has
been interested and active
in various art forms she has
only recently begun to
produce paintings. She has
only studied with _ the
Warrenton Arts Commission
through the adult painting
classes.
Landscapes are an innate
natural ability Irene possesses;
therefore, she is
working continuously to
further this ability.
A retired school teacher,
Irene is spending increasing
amounts of time painting.
She sketches her landscapes
on site then works at the
kitchen table painting with
the television on in the
background. She finds this
habit relaxing as well as
stimulating.
Her artworks will be on
