News & Society Items Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fisher and daughters, Shelba and Suki, of Detroit, Mich., have returned home after visiting Mrs. Fisher's mother, Mrs. Cathryne Hunt, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clark of Macon. Mrs. Clark is Mrs. Fisher's sister. Guests also during the time was Mrs. Hunt's other daughter, Mrs. Miriam Jurich of Phoenix, Jurich spent several days with their brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hunt, Jr., in Hampton, Va. Mr. Hunt was recovering from recent knee surgery. Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Short accompanied Mr. and Mrs. James Ferguson and children of Emporia, Va., to St. Petersburg, Fla., for several days visit to Mrs. Daphine Ferguson. They visited many places of interest including Silver Springs, Webb City, Sunken Gardens, and The Shark World on the beach of the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. William Earl Terry and children have returned from spending a week at Myrtle Beach. Mrs. W. F. Farmer, Mrs. J. E. Adams, Mrs. Walker Burwell and Mrs. Rufus S. Jones have returned from a weekend at Saluda where they were joined by Mrs. Farmer's sister, Mrs. L. 0. Robertson of Greenville, S. C. Mrs. Dorman Blaylock has returned to her home after being a patient at Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Lee Faucette have returned to their home in Mishawaka, Indiana, after visiting his mother. Mrs. Lottie H. Faucette and other relatives. Jim Nance and Helen Nance were luncheon guests of his grandmother Monday en route to Maryland. Mrs. H. M. King of Halifax and Miss Anne Gayle King of Raleigh visited Mrs. Lottie Faucette on Sunday. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Owen Robertson, Jr., of Warrenton. Mr. Walker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bernard Walker of Warrenton. A symbolic candle ceremony was held with the couple lighting the center candle signifying their union. Upon leaving the chancel the bride took two roses from her bouquet and presented them to her mother and mother-in-law. Prior to the ceremony a »">}ram of nuptial music presented by Howard itultz, organist. Marty son sang, "If" and i,lour My World." Following the vows, Mrs. Jimmy Roberts sang "Whither Thou Goest" and "The Lord's Prayer." Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white silk sheer featuring peaudange lace. Her veil was of silk illusion and matching lace. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses, white daisies and baby's breath, Miss Wanda Wilson of Norlina was maid of honor. She wore a yellow floral gown of chiffon over taffeta and a yellow picture hat and carried a long-stem yellow rose. Bridesmaids were Mrs. James Lee Hawks of Warrenton, sister of the groom, Miss Debra Pair of Raleigh, Miss Gayle Poole of Raleigh and Roxboro, Miss Frances Daniel and Miss Rebecca Wood, both of Warrenton. Their gowns were identical to that of the honor attendant. Miss Dana Kimes of Raleigh was flower girl and wore a yellow dress and a white eyelet pinafore. She carried a basket of rose petals. Master Michael Daily was : ringbearer. He carried a j pillow designed and handmade by his mother, Mrs. George Daily. Howard Bernard Walker was his son's best man. Groomsmen were Jackie Walker, brother of the groom, Larry and Ronnie Robertson, brothers of. the bride, James Lee Hawks, brother-in-law of the groom, and Michael Coleman of Raleigh. Mrs. James Sammons was mistress of ceremony and Mrs. Thomas Pete Fleming directed the wedding. The bride is a graduate of Norlina High School and Hardbarger Business College. The groom is a graduate of Norlina High School and attended Wilson Technical Institute. He is employed at Roses, Inc., in Henderson. After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple will live in Norlina. Reception Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained at a reception at the Warrenton Country Club. A yellow and white color scheme was used throughout the ballroom. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Daniel. The four-tiered wedding cake was served by Mrs. M. P. Carroll, Sr.,. cousin of the bride and Mrs. N. L. Williams, aunt of the groom. Champagne and punch were served by Mrs. C. C. King, Jr., cousin of the bride and Miss. Marie Taylor, aunt of the bride. Miss Fran Rooker, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Jackie Walker, sister-in-law of the groom, presided at the guest register. Miss Kristie Robertson, cousin of the bride, gave scrolls to the guests. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Moseley, aunt and uncle of the groom. Dinner The wedding party and special guests were entertained by the parents of the ?room, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Walker, at a dinner jn Saturday evening preceding the rehearsal. The linner was held at The Rafters Steak House in Warrenton. Following the dinner, Mr. Walker presented his groomsmen with gifts. After-Rehearsal Party Miss Edith Louise Robertson and Donald Howard Walker were honored at a dance at the Warrenton Country Club on Saturday evening, July 23. Hosts and hostesses (or the evening were friends and relatives of the couple. The club was decorated with hanging baskets and the refreshment table was centered with a silver candelabra holding yellow, candles with yellow and white flowers. The guests enjoyed dancing to the music by William Hicks. Cook-out Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Murphy, Jr., entertained Miss Louise Robertson and Donald Walker, members of the wedding party and relatives of the bride and groom-elect at a barbeque cook-out at their home in Louisburg on July 9. The 36 guests attending were served by candlelight on the patio. Brown-eyed Susans and daisies decorated the tables and were also used for Miss Robertson's corsage. The honorees were given a casserole dish in their china pattern. Shower Miss Wanda Wilson, Miss Rebecca Wood and Miss Frances Daniel honored Miss Louise Robertson at a miscellaneous shower at the home of Miss Wilson on July 16. Each of the 38 guests present registered in a guest book which was presented to the bride-elect. She also received many other useful gifts. Luncheon Mrs. Pete Fleming honored Miss Louise Robertson at a luncheon at the Norlina Woman's Club House on July 23. Guests included bridal attendants, mothers and grandmothers. Mrs. Fleming presented Miss Robertson a set of :very day stainless flatvare. Following the luncheon kliss Robertson presented [ifts to her attendants. Davis Family Gathers The descendants of Edward and Rebecca Pitchford Davis beld their annual reunion July 24 at the ancestral home, "Lake Of the Woods," now owned by Mr. and Mrs. George Davis. Members were greeted and registered by Mrs. Bettie Davis Benton, greatgreat granddaughter of Edward and Rebecca Davis. Members were from Warrenton, Norlina, Greensboro, Raleigh, Durham, Reidsville, Charlotte, Louisburg, Goldsboro, Burlington, Wichita Falls, Tex., Stockton, Calif., and Huntsville, Ala. Amid the fellowship and reuniting of family was a tour of the 18th Century home filled with treasured Pinnell Family Holds Reunion Descendants of the Pinnell family of Warren County held a family reunion at the Lions Den on July 24. Approximately 80 relatives and friends gathered. The Rev. Dennis Levin, pastor of the home church, Providence Methodist, gave the invocation. Following a bountiful meal, movies of past reunions and homecoming at the church were shown. A committee was appointed to set a date for the reunion next year. Hart Pinnell of Charlotte told of his findings in search for a complete family tree and announced that a Pinnell newsletter would begin this year. Bake Sale The children's class of I Sulphur Springs Baptist i Church will sponsor a bake i sale at the AAA Gas i Company on Friday, July < 29, beginning at 9:30 a. m. antiques and family heirlooms. The old kitchen separated from the main house and perfectly preserved for over 100 years was an interesting feature. All of the furniture and kitchen utensils used a century ago are preserved by the owners. The old stables erected in 1829 by the grandfather of the present owner are still preserved. These stables housed the horses for the first mail service through North Carolina, known as the Boston Post Road. The mail service was by horseback from Boston to New Orleans and riders were boarded at the Davis home. Family Reunion The descendants of J.A.B. Reid will meet for their reunion on Sunday, Aug. 7, at the Enterprise Church near Littleton. This date has been changed from the second Sunday in August to the first Sunday this year. Everyone is to bring a basket lunch. Family To Meet The Lancaster-Heuay reunion will be held on Sunday, August 7, at the home of Milton King in Hollister. All ancestors are invited to come and bring a picnic lunch. Local Items Mrs. Marie Andrews is a >atient in Community Menorial Hospital in South rlill, Va. It was a very inspiring program and very much appreciated by the residents. We hope to have another visit from the Warrenton Baptist Church in the very near future.
