26 young people to
Charlotte for the weekend
on a chartered bus where
they joined a youth group
from Sharon Baptist Church
in Charlotte for a retreat. On
Saturday they went to
Carowinds and on their
return trip they stopped at
the zoo in Asheboro.

after undergoing surgery at

Miss Kathy Williams has
been visiting with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Alfred Williams, after
spending a year in Tehran,
Iran. The Williams had as
their weekend guests, Mr.
and Mrs. R. B. Kaiser and
daughter, Ruth Ellen, of
Dallas, Tex. Miss Kaiser
was the roommate of Miss
Williams' and they will go to
Europe on Tuesday and will
later return to Iran.
Colonel and Mrs. James
E. Adams of Yorktown, Va.,
spent Friday night with his
mother, Mrs. J. E. Adams.
Col. Adams and family will
move shortly to Austin,
Tex., where he has been
assigned to Bergstrom Air
Force Base as Commander
of the 602 Tactical Air
Control Wing.

Miss Cathy L. Porter and Larry F. Teal are engaged to
be married on October 9 in the Littleton United Methodist
Church. Announcing the engagement are the
bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Porter of
Vaughan. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mrs.
J. Frank Teal of Kannapolis and the late Mr. Teal.
Miss Porter is a graduate of Littleton High School and
is attending Central Piedmont Community College in
Charlotte with plans to attend the University of North
Carolina at Charlotte. Mr. Teal also attends
UNC-Charlotte.

23, at 11 o'clock at the
Trinity Methodist Church.
The double-ring ceremony
was performed by the Rev.
Floyd J. Wingfield, Jr.,
pastor, in the presence of
the immediate families.
The bride is the daughter
of Mrs. Lina Dundalow
Carter of Key West, Fla.,
formerly of Franklin, Va.,
and the late William
Richard Carter. The groom
is the son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Walter John Shearin of
Warrenton.
The bride was given in
marriage by her brothtr,
Richard E. Carter of Fran :lin,
Va. She wore an ivory
qiana street-length dress
with navy accessories and
an ivory cymbidium orchid.

The Alberta Mission Action
group of Warren Plains
Baptist Church held their
regular meeting on Tuesday,
July 26, at the home of
Mrs. Shirley Lynch at 8 p.
m.
Mrs. Janie Rivers, chairman,
president. The topic for
discussion was "Progress
and Improvements of Our
Church and Community."
Each member benefitted as
she shared her ideas of how
to stimulate action in her
church and community.
After the benediction the
hostess served lemon pie,
cheese straws and iced tea
to the nine members present.
Bible School Set
At Baptist Church

will hold Vacation Bible
School August 8 through 12
from 9 a. m. each day until
noon. Refreshments will be
served. Children ages three
through the fifth grade will
be enrolled.

Miss Davis is a senior at

University and Mr. Steele is
