Carl Ayscue, John Riggan and Bobby Fleming, dressed in walking shorts, were judged for the calf show by guest speaker, Ms. Dianne Rathbun. John Riggan's left calf was declared the winner over the other contestants. Lion President Clinton Capps suggested that F. P. Whitley's education committee tutor Bill Connell as to the kind of calves wanted for the upcoming county fair, Sept. 26 to Oct. 1. Whitley, chairman of the Lions Club educational conmittee, introduced Ms. Rathbun, artist-in-residence at Vance-Granville Community College, as guest speaker. A graduate of N. C.
