Nelson, Jr., defendant ordered to pay $150 each month for the support and maintenance of dependents and to continue until further orders of the court. Larry Talley, assault on female and assault by pointing gun, ordered to jail for two years, suspended for three years and placed on probation for three years under the usual conditions of probation with special conditions that he not be found guilty of assaulting his wife, Carolyn Talley, during the period of probation, fined $100 and court costs. Court also allowed defendant to visit relatives in the State of Virginia. PUNCH LINE Guys And Dolls Chapter Meet; Plans Drafted Mu Chapter of Guys and Dolls, Inc., convened for a dinner meeting on October 7. The primary purpose of the meeting was to formulate plans for the new fiscal year. The group decided to concentrate its efforts on four major categories of activities: Cultural and Educational, Civic, Social and Recreational. Committees were organized for each of the categories. Heading the Cultural and Educational division are Dolls, Lucille Engram, Clementine Hawkins, Mary Jordan and Nannette Henderson. Civic activities will be coordinated by Guys, Albert Townes, Thomas Hudgins and W. L. Rose. Coordinating the Social Activities will be Guys, W. E. Exum, and Maurice Crump. Working with them will be Torches, Jan Jordan, Germaine Hawkins, Shirley Hudgins, Melissa Exum and Keith Johnson. Recreational Activities will be directed by Guys, James Robinson, James Jordan and Beecher Henderson, Jr. Working with them will be Torches, Jimmy Robinson. Gaynall Hudgins, Alfreda Robinson and Bravetta Watson. The group enjoyed a dinner catered by Warrenton's newest caterer, the Rev. Mike Williams. After a social hour the meeting adjourned. At the next meeting each of the committees will present a proposed calendar of events for the selected categories. The Dolls especially await the next meeting since it will be hosted by the Guys of Mu Chapter. To Attend Meet Two delegates from the Haliwa Senior Citizens Club will attend the convention in Fayetteville October 26-28 it was announced at a meeting of the club last Thursday. The delegates will be Mrs. Annora Richardson and Mrs. Beautrice Richardson. The group, meeting in the multi-purpose center, also announced that a picnic is planned for October 15 on the grounds of the multipurpose center at 2 p. m., weather permitting. During the meeting the club celebrated the birthdays of those who had them during September, complete with cake and ice cream. Those honored were Auther Richardson, Mrs. Roberta Lynch and Mrs. Gladys Wilson. Record Enrollment A record number of students have begun fall quarter classes at VanceGranville Community College. An estimated 1,205 students have registered for curricula classes, a 31.7 percent increase over last fall's registration, according to Registrar Harry J. Bryan. A total of 915 students registered last fall. Bryan said the estimated figure includes all evening and daytime, part-time and full-time students who have registered for curricula programs. Almost 1,300 students have enrolled in continuing education classes.
