Scott have returned from Culpeper, Va., after spending a week with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cooke. Mr. and Mrs. Cooke had been their guests in Warrenton for several days. Mrs. E. E. Gillam has returned from Rocky Mount where she was a patient for three weeks in Rocky Mount Sanitorium. Mrs. W. F. Davis recently attended an antique show in Fairfax, Va. Dr. Ray Selby, rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, was guest speaker at the annual homecoming services at St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamsboro on Sunday. He also spoke to the ladies of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Oxford on Monday night. Given in marriage by her paternal grandfather, Homer Richard Leffler of Tulsa, Okla., the bride wore a formal-length gown of white silk organza featuring Queen Anne and chantilly lace Her chapel-length mantilla was of imported illusion and fell from a lace band. She carried a cascade of yellow sweetheart roses, white miniature carnations and springeri fern. Mrs. Peggy Williams of Henderson was matron of honor. She wore a formallength gown of dusty rose .satin. She wore miniature white chrysanthemums with matching bow in her hair and carried a long-stemmed white chrysanthemum tied with deep pink velvet streamers. Other attendants were Miss Cynthia Leffler, Miss Catherine Leffler and Miss Alesia Leffler, sisters of the bride, all of Colonial Heights; and Miss Mary Jane Lukomski of Petersburg, sister of the groom. They wore gowns of teal blue idential to that of the honor attendant Miss Jill Leffler of Colonial Heights, sister of the bride, and Miss Lelia Lukomski of Petersburg, sister of the bridegroom, were flower girls. Mr. Lukomski was his son s best man. Ushers were Truey Burgess, Craig Southall and Mike Fitz, all of Petersburg; Bill Hand of Greensboro; Danny Rivers of Claremont; Conley Funkhauser of Franklin and Jeff Loss of Arlington. Reception A reception was held in the social hall of the church. Following a tour of Western Virginia mountains, the couple will live in Petersburg. Educators Have Gathering Of Delta Kappa Gamma Society Warren-Vance County XI Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma society, a professional group of educators, held its first meeting of 1977-78 on Friday night at the Country Club in Henderson. Mrs. Shirley White, president, called the meeting to order and Mrs. Sybil Leggett gave an impressive meditation. A proposed budget was presented and adopted. Various reports were made by committee chairmen. Speaker of the evening was Mrs. Beulah McPherson of Cameron, director of Alpha Kappa Gamma, Region IV, who discussed the regional meetings and urged member attendance. In a setting appropriately using chrysanthemums of autumn tones to reflect the Mrs. Gardner Is Auxiliary Hostess The American Legion Auxiliary met in the home of Mrs. Scott Gardner on Thursday night. The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, the Unit Preamble and the singing of America. Mrs. Mildred Shearin, chaplain, offered the prayer. Mrs. Gardner, president, called for the minutes of the last meeting, treasurer's report and standing committee reports. It was announced that the Benson Fruit Cakes would arrive by Nov. 1. They will be sold for $2.75 each and the money will be used to send three girls to Girls State next year. The members voted to send $100 to the All Season's program, $25 going to each of the four V. A. Hospitals in North Carolina. The hospitals will use the money for personal needs of patients. The unit membership quota for 1977-78 is 44. Membership chairman,* Mrs. Juanita Wood, reported a total of 45 members to date. Miss Becky Richardson, EMR Resource Teacher from Mariam Boyd School, gave a most interesting program on her work with children K-6 who have learning disabilities or are doing poorly in their class room work. Party Held For Macon Couple Mr. and Mrs. James Harold Robertson of Macon were honored with a 25th wedding anniversary reception at the Carolina Biological Motel on Sunday, October 2. Their daughters, Donna and Joanne, hosted the reception. Floral arrangements and candles were used throughout the motel lounge carrying out a pink and white motif. A five-tier wedding cake was cut and served by Mrs. Vance Robertson. Punch was poured by Mrs. Tom Young. Sausage twirls, mints, orange blossoms and roasted pecans were also served. A small table was used as a melon table with fresh fruit shapes being served. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Allen. Mrs. Douglas Seuis presided at the register. Miss Banzet was selected from among nominees from across the nation for the honor. The awards program is sponsored annually by a board composed of leaders of national women's organizations. Miss Banzet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Banzet of Warrenton. She received both undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill She also attended the N. C. School for gifted and exceptional students at Western Carolina.
