Warrenton Woman Elected President Of District 14 Mrs. L. O. Robertson, Jr., of Warrenton was elected president of District 14 at the annual Fall Meeting of the 14th district of the North Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs (NCDWC) held at the Norlina Baptist Church on October 18. I I Her election makes two Warren County women to hold the office in succession. Mrs. G. W. King of Macon is immediate past president. Other officers elected included Mrs. Julia Carr of Franklinton, vice-president; Ms. Priscilla Davis of I Mrs. L. O. Robertson, Jr., holds Citizenship Award she received as a district winner at the annual Fall Meeting of the 14th District held in Norlina last week. She will now compete on the state level. Mrs. G. President, seems pleased with the honor. ' ' Roanoke Rapids, Junior Director; Mrs. Carroll Oakley of Henderson, treasurer and Mrs. G. W. King of Macon, parliamentarian. The president selects her secretary and Mrs. Robertson named Mrs. Pete Fleming of Norlina as secretary. The day, beset with awards and speeches from NCFWC officers, began with a coffee hour hosted by the Norlina Junior Woman's club. Mrs. G. W. King presided over an assembly and the women were welcomed by Mrs. L. O. Robertson, Jr., of the Norlina Woman's Club. The Rev. G. Elton Cooke gave the invocation and the Rev. Charles Nathan Burgess rendered a solo. Mrs. L. Murrie Lee, third vice-president of the NCFWC, gave a ' Recipe for Clubwoman Cake" in her speech comparing the ingredients of a cake with ingredients of the ideal clubwoman. Mrs. James W. Johnson, president of the NCFWC, spoke on "Bloom Where You Plant," and compared projects that help within a community to plants that bloom. She noted that projects "blooming" were from the heart. Mrs. Henry Hull of the Oxford Woman's Club held a memorial service. Mrs. G. W. King was then recognized and received one of the highest honors of the day. She was named honorary j unior of the j unior clubs in the district and presented a cross-stitch picture of the Junior emblem and flowers. Following the assembly, a luncheon was served by the Norlina Woman's Club. During the luncheon awards were presented for outstanding achievement in club work. The Warrenton Junior Woman's Club won three awards and the Macon Woman's Club won two. The Henderson Junior Woman's Club carried home most of the awards. The Warrenton Juniors won the Julia C. Carrington award for "Best in Home Life;" the Sue Terry award for "Help-a-Home;" and the Nell C. Powell tray for "Leadership in the community." The Macon Woman's Club won the Lemme Jordan award for "City Beatification" and the Mamie King award for "Help" with shut-ins. Mrs. L. O. Robertson. Jr., of the Norlina Woman's Club received the honor award of the day when she was named district winner of the Bryant Citizenship award. The award is on an individual basis and makes her eligible to compete with the 15 other districts throughout the state for the state citizenship award. A painting offered by Mrs. Maggie Hayes of Norlina was used for the art fund and won by Mamie King of Macon. The meeting, attended by 103 women of the district, closed with the collect. Miss Estelle Liles is recuperating at Guardian Care Nursing Home in Roanoke Rapids after undergoing eye surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Black of Newport News, Va., visited Mrs. W. G. Thacker on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Willie J. King of Norlina and Mr and Mrs. L. J. Adams of Butner spent several days with Mrs. Betty Adams and family in Newport News. Mrs. Asa Leonard has returned home after being a patient at Maria Parham Hospital. Miss Debbie Tarleton spent the weekend in Charlotte with her parents and toured the mountains of North Carolina. Mrs. Harold Moseley is a patient at Wake Memorial Hospital, Room 3511, in Raleigh. Those visiting her over the weekend were Harold Moseley and Tim, Mrs. Barbara Walker, Mrs. Maude Williams and Mrs. Louise Riggan. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Colender of Washington, D. C., and the Rev. and Mrs. Edward Spruill of Chase City, Va., visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Elam, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Coleman, Carol and Janice visited Mr. and Mrs. Glen Floyd in Norfolk, Va., last week. They also visited Nags Head and Morehead City. Mr. and Mrs. George Adams and sons of Enfield were visitors on Sunday with Mr and Mrs. Willie King and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Riggan.
