16 Months Added To Term
Edward D. Walton, a
young escapee from the
Warrenton correctional unit
early in October, was given
a 16-month sentence by
Judge Claude W. Allen, Jr.,
of Oxford Friday during
Warren County District
Court.
Walton appeared on
charges of misdemeanor
breaking and entering. He
had sought refuge in the
Child Development Center
on Franklin Street following
the escape.
The sentence will be
served at the expiration of
sentence he is now serving.
He has previously been
sentenced on the escape
charge.
The defense counsel gave
a notice of appeal to the next
criminal session of Superior
Court.
Other cases disposed of
included:
William H. Barber of Pennsylvania
was called and
failed on charges of speeding
70 in 55 mph zone.
Robert Francis Bevea,
Jr., of Cumberland. County,
was called and failed on
charges of speeding 67 in 55
mph zone. He was ordered
arrested for appearance on
Dec 9 with bond set at $100.
Harvey Clayton Boone,
Jr., of Woodland, was called
and failed following a no
inspection sticker charge.
He was ordered arrested for
appearance on Dec. 9 with
bond set at $40.00.
Bobby Arnold Dail of
Vance County was found
guilty of improper registration
and no insurance, fined
$30 and court costs.
Carole Susan Davis of
California was called and
failed for charges of
speeding 75 in 55 mph zone.
The $50 bond was ordered
forfeited.
Glentis Davis of Warren
County was fined $25 and
court costs for careless and
reckless driving.
A case of failure to see
safe movement on Cynthia
Faye Dortch of Warren
County was dismissed when
the State failed to prove the
»kse.
Kuby Beatrice Downey of
Warren County was granted
prayer for judgment upon
payment of court costs on
charges of speeding 67 in 55
mph zone.
Ronald Evans of Wake
County called and failed on
charges of exceeding a safe
speed. He was ordered
arrested for appearance on
November 18 with bond set
at $100.
Joseph F. Fitzhugh, Jr., of
New Jersey, speeding 70 in
55 mph zone, called and
failed.
George Washington Freeman,
Jr., of Warren County,
failure to stop at scene of
accident, fined $10 and court
costs.
Dennis Vance Gulley of
Wake County was granted
prayer for judgment upon
payment of court costs for
speeding 50 in 35 mph zone.
Larry Wayne Hamm of
Warren County was found
guilty of improper registration,
no insurance, displaying
altered registration
plate and careless and
reckless driving. He was
ordered to pay court costs in
one case and $50 fine.
Alfred Sidney Harris of
Warren County was found
not guilty for careless and
reckless driving.
Oscar Hendricks of Warren
County, assault on
female, ordered to jail for 60
days to work under supervision

session of Superior Court.
Wade Holloman of Warren
County, assault on female
and injury to personal
property, waived right to
formal presentation of evidence
and ordered to N. C.
Department of Correction
as Youthful Offender for not

Joanne G. Loftus of New
York, speeding 70 in 55 mph
zone, called and failed.
Roy Lee Massenburg of
Franklin County, no inspection

John Carroll May, of
Jamestown, speeding 70 in
55 mph zone, called and
failed. Ordered arrested for
appearance on Dec. 9 with
bond set at $250.

HI, of Warren County was
fined $5 and court costs for
failing to see safe movement.
Richard R. McCallum of
New Jersey, speeding 70 in
55 mph zone, called and
failed.
Carrie Garrett Mitchell
was called and failed on
speeding 86 in 55 mph zone
charges. The Maryland
woman's bond of $75 was
forfeited.
Harold F. Morse, driving
under the influence of intoxicants,
judgment absolute on
bond.
Tracy Wayne Palmer of
Warren County, two charges
of writing a check on a
closed bank account and one
of worthless checks, called
and failed. Ordered arrested
for appearance on Nov. 4
without privilege of bond.
Eugene Powell, nonsupport,
ordered to jail for six
months, suspended for four
years on the condition he
pay court costs and pay to
the Clerk of Superior Court
$25 each week for use of his
minor child.
Douglas Alan Pugh of
Virginia was called and
failed on speeding 70 in 55
mph zone.
Willie Lee Robinson of
Warren County, nonsupport.
The court found that the defendant
had not willfully and
intentionally violated the
terms of a suspended
sentence and ordered that
the Bill of Particulars be
dismissed.
Diane Louise Schum of
Virginia, speeding 70 in 55
mph zone, called and failed.
Lawrence William Seaman,
Jr., of Warren County,
driving under the influence
of intoxicants, ordered to
jail for six months, suspended
for 12 months on the
condition he surrender opertor's
license and not operate
motor vehicle on highways
of N. C. for 12 months, fined
$200 and court costs. Notice
of appeal given to next
criminal session of Superior
Court with bond to remain in
effect.

Virginia, fishing without
license, voluntary dismissal.
Bernard Silver of Warren
County, speeding 46 in 35
mph zone, pi ver for
judgment continued upon
payment of court costs.
Ace Eugene Sylver of
Warren County, disorderly
conduct, ordered to jail for
15 days, suspended for six
months on the condition he
pay fine of $15 and court
costs and not be found guilty
of any type of disorderly
conduct for six months. He
was found not guilty on
using profane language in
public place charge.
Douglas Pawley Turner of
Washington, D. C., speeding
68 in 55 mph zone, called and
failed.
Shirley Ann Upton of
Virginia, careless and reckless
driving, court costs.
Eddie R. Valentine of
Warren County, misdemeanor
possession of marihuana,
voluntary dismissal.
On charges of driving under
the influence of intoxicants,
he was ordered to jail for 90
days, suspended for 12
months on the condition he
pay $100 fine and court
costs, surrender operator's
license and not operate
motor vehicle on highways
of N. C. for 12 months except
as allowed by limited
driving privilege only to be
issued after six months for
failing to take the breathalyzer
test.

Warren County, scratching
off, motion to quash warrant
allowed and case dismissed.
James Watson, Jr., assault
with deadly weapon
inflicting serious injury,
waived right to preliminary
hearing and ordered to
appear at next criminal
session of Superior Court to
answer charge with bond to
remain in effect.

Mark Anthony Hasilip,
two charges of breaking,
entering and larceny, held
96-hour hearing on both
charges and case continued
until Nov. 4.

$600 Loss Follows
Gaston Break-In
Eaton's Ferry Marina
was* robbed of approximately
$600 following a break-in
during the weekend, the
Warren County Sheriff's
Department has reported.
Earl Beddingfield, owner,
reported the break-in Sunday
morning, according to
Lloyd Newsome, investigating
deputy. Newsome said
entry was made through a
window over the bathroom.
The money in bills and
silver was missing from a
cash register and no other
items were missing.
The investigation is continuing.

with deadly weapon on law
enforcement officer, ordered
to jail for eight months to
work under supervision of
N. C. Department of Correction
with sentence to begin
at expiration of sentence
now serving.
Tom Souther land, worthless
checks, ordered to jail
for 30 days, suspended for
six months on the condition
he pay cost of court and pay
the Clerk of Superior Court
$42 as restitution to Mrs.
Laura Jones for the worthless
check.
