State Fully Accredits V-G Community College The North Carolina State Board of Education voted on Thursday. Nov. 3, to grant full accreditation to VanceGranville Community College. Dr. Donald Mohorn, college president, made the announcement this week after he received official notification from Dr. Ben Fountain, state president of the Department of Community Colleges, and G. Herman Porter, associate vice president of Student Services and Program Resources. Fountain said in his letter that "I am pleased to inform you that the State Board of Education on November 3, 1977 accredited VanceGranville Community College. This accreditation is to be reaffirmed periodically in accordance with accreditation procedure. I congratulate you in attaining this accreditation status for your institution and wish you continued success in the further development of Vance-Granville Community College " Vance-Granville Community College made application this year for accreditation from both the state of North Carolina and the Southern Association of Col leges and Schools. Final notification from the Southern Association is due in December at the annual meeting of the association in Atlanta. Dr. Mohorn cited the efforts of the Steering Committee on Accreditation in guiding VGCC toward approval by both the State Board of Education and Southern Association. Members of the steering committee chaired by Carolyn Oakley, were Paul Stokes, Tom Welch, Gray Pernell, Mary Frances Hoyle, Carl Flippin, Mary Hunter, and Harold Bissett. Mohorn also congratulated the College's Dean of Instruction, Dr. Ralph Greene, for his leadership in the push for accreditation. Attend Meeting Members attending a recent meeting of the Town and County Garden Club included Mrs. A. M. Alston, Mrs. G. J. Exum, Mrs. S. L. Hawkins, Mrs. E. W. Harris, and Mrs. M. H. Powell.
