The occasion was a family reunion of the Conn family. Mrs Mary Ethel Conn returned to New York recently after visiting Mr. and Mrs. William L. Stevenson and family in East Riverdale, Md. She will spend some time with her son. William Conn, in New York City. Mr and Mrs. Lester Capps. Robin. Lee and Lynn Capps and Joe Shearin attended the Duke-Johns Hopkins basketball game on Saturday. Mrs. Branch Bobbitt spent the Thanksgiving holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Branch Bobbitt, Jr., and son, Josh, in Madison. Mr. and Mrs. William Boyce had as their Thanksgiving guests Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cheek of Kins ton, Miss Bryan Cheek of St. Mary's in Raleigh and Boyce Cheek of U.N.C. Chapel Hill. Mrs. J.C. Magruder of Whitestone, Va., arrived Saturday to spend several days with her father, Mr. George Scoggin, and her sister, Mrs. Rufus S. Jones. Miss Sandra Jones of Charlottesville, Va., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Duke Jones. Mr. and Mrs. William Duke Jones of Raleigh were their Thanksgiving guests. Mr and Mrs. J.F. The members were invited into the dining room f where the table was i decorated for Thanksgiving. 1 Refreshments were served. 1 Mrs. Harris, president, s opened the meeting with s prayer, the ritual pledge and salutes to the flags. The i minutes of the October r meeting were read, the i treasurer's report and other 1 reports were heard. The old and new business were given. A book "N. Clark of Cary announce the engagement of their daughter, Ann Lynne, to Robert Bruce Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Miller of Canton. The wedding is planned for January 15 at the White Plains Methodist Church in Cary at 2 p. m. Friends and relatives are invited Adoptive Parents To Meet A public recruitment meeting will be held tonight (Thursday) for people who may be interested in adopting a black child. The meeting will take place at 7:30 p. m., Shiloh Baptist Church. 635 College St., Henderson. Hundreds of black chiliren in North Carolina are waiting for the security of permanent adoptive homes, yet many people hesitate to inquire about adoption because of misinformation about available children and how the adoption process works. Anyone who is concerned about the well-being of black children who need a permanent home and family is urged to attend the meeting and to encourage others to attend. Those who cannot be present but would like to obtain information on adoption are asked to write The Children's Home Society, P. O Box 6587. Greensboro. 27405. Parade Plans Being Readied Plans are being finalized by the Warren County Chamber of Commerce for the annual Christmas parade scheduled for Dec. 10. Butch Meek, chairman of the parade, noted entries are coming in but participation, at present, does not appear to be as good as last year. Meek commented that no bands had made commitments by early this week. "Time has not run out," he said in urging groups and organizations to contact him to enter the parade. Littleton and Henderson i - - . A. uarc iwjucsveu participation in the parade and Meek is confident that the local participation will be as good as last year. Also expected to be featured in the parade are antique cars, floats, horses and scouts. Of course, Santa Claus has marked his calendar to attend. The parade will begin in Norlina at 1 p. m. and reassemble in Warrenton at 3 p. m. Groups or organizations wishing to be in the parade are requested to contact Butch Meek at 456-2041 or 456-2664.
