Flu Shots Available The Warren County Health Department will be giving flu vaccine any Tuesday from 8:30 a. m. to 5 p. m. Again, this year if you are 65 or older, or who regardless of age suffer from such chronic condi tions as heart disease, bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, emphysema, kidney disease, diabetes and other chronic meta bolic diseases you are en couraged to be a candidate for the vaccine. The high risk people, as 1 — Listed, are especially vul nerable to flu because in their weakened condition they often get complica tions such as pneumonia. Medical authorities say the prevalent flu germs this year will be A-Bang kok, A-Brazil, and B-Sing apore Fortunately, there is an effective vaccine against them. It, at The Carriage House. The purpose of the occa sion was to recognize and present pins to employees with S, 10, IS and 20 years' service. Those receiving five year pins were Loretta Scott. Sharon Woody, Car nell Hargrove and Gar nette King. Two employees received ten-year pins. They were Lynda Tolbert and Cleo Taylor. Those receiving fifteen year pins were Hilda Per kinson, Rutha Silver, Ruby Hargrove, Morton Mus tian, Allen Kearney, Goldie Baskett, Hettie Bolton, Lillie King and Russell Sadler. Twenty-year pins went to Mary Smiley, Margaret Gooch. and Namfie Mae Edmonds. John Andrews, Plant manager, made the pre sentation to the group and congratulated them on their achievement. He also expressed his appreciation to them for their faithful and loyal service. Carolina Sportswear now has one employee with 25 years' service, 34 with 20 years. 28 with 15 years, 23 with 10 years and 62 with 5 or more years. Warrenton Womer Welcome Member The Warrenton Woman's Club held its first meeting of the new club year last Thursday, following a covered dish supper. Twenty-three members and two guests were present. Mrs. Janet Harris was welcomed into the club as a new member, stepping up from the Warrenton Junior Woman's Club. Mrs. W. R. Baskervill, a long-time member, was a guest of the club and was wished a "Happy Birth day by the club members After orientation and general business, plans were made for the 14th District Meeting to be held here Oct. 17. Even at a discount, an unneeded purchase is wasteful. i Activities Noted At Boyd's Rest Home By ANN CRAWFORD The summer is over and it has been a fantastic one for the residents at Boyd Rest Home. Anticipation is great as we move toward the most colorful season of the year, Fall, and our nature trip to the moun tains when natural techni color is at its peak. A Boyd Rest Home monthly news letter begin ning in October will keep everyone posted about our many activities planned by our activity coordinator, Mrs. Thelma B. Davis, recently certified at VGCC. Mrs. Davis has served as a volunteer worker in and around Warren County for five years. She has now become one of the staff members on duty daily bringing interest and devo tion to residents and co workers alike. In the past many youth groups of Warren County with their vitality and exciting input have brought much happiness to Boyd's residents. Invita tions are being sent to known youth groups for regular activity dates, other youth groups whose address we do not have are asked to contact our activity coordinator for dates on our planned sche dule. Activities are being planned for special church groups that have served the residents at Boyd's Rest Home on regularly scheduled Sunday ser vices. They are: 1st Sunday, New Bethel Bap tist Church of Macon; 2nd Sunday, Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Macon, the Rev. Will Tabron, pastor; 3rd Sunday, Elder Terry Cart ton dnd his congregation; 4th Sunday, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, the Rev. Paul Davis, pastor. Other churches and groups are invited to contact our coordinator for a planned schedule date to help bring joy and mean ing to many forgotten people.
