Hospital Applications Sought
Applications are being
accepted for the next class
of the Maria Parham
Hospital School of Medical
Technology, which will
begin in September.
The two-year course
trains women and men to
become medical
laboratory technicians,
capable of performing the
many laboratory tests in a
hospital or clinic. The
Maria Parham school is
accredited by the
Accrediting Bureau of
Health Education Schools,
a national organization. Its
graduates are thereby
authorized to work in their
specialized field anywhere
in the United States.
During the 24-month
training period, students
receive classroom lectures
and participate in
laboratory exercises in the
hospital's large, modern
medical laboratory. In
addition, they complete
about 2,500 hours of
supervised on-the-job
training.
Upon completion of the
school, graduates take a
national examination to
become registered
laboratory technicians.
Since the school opened in
1966, it has graduated 42
laboratory technicians.
Maria Parham school
graduates have enjoyed a

Mayor White commented
that he had noticed from
the financial report that
the town had received $538
from Cable Television for
the period from September
to April.
There was some discussion,
but no action taken on
the matter of privilege
license, which will be due
on June 1.
Administrator Pete
Vaughan told the board
that Marty Rooker, Warrenton
attorney, had talked
to him about building an
office building and legal
requirements for parking
space.
Mayor White suggested
that Rooker appear before
the board and apply for a
variance before the planning
board if necessary.
