(Staff Photo) Club Wins Award Mrs Anna Thompson and Mrs. Mamie King of the Macon Woman's Club attended the May 5 session of the North Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs in Winston-Salem They also attended the awards luncheon where the Macon Woman's Club was presented an award for outstanding work done in the Gerontology Divi sion of the Home Life Department of which Mrs. Arnie Belle Fuller is chairman. Under Mrs. Fuller's able leadership, the club contributed greatly to the pleasure and well-being of the residents 6f various rest homes, convalescents, and shut-ins. both locally and in the surrounding area Deaths And Funerals MILLARD B. GARRETT HENDERSON - Funeral services for Millard Blane Garrett. 76. a farmer and resident of the Vicksboro community, will be conducted tomorrow (Thursday) at 11 a. m. from Shocco United Methodist Church by the Rev. Edward Childress. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Garrett died on Tuesday morning at Maria Parham Hospital. A native of Vance County, he was the son of the late William and Nellie Robertson Garrett, and a member of Shocco United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Turner Garrett of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Jean Harris of Chase City, Va., Mrs. Betty Smith of Henderson and Mrs. Lucille Keller of Richmond, Va.; four sons, James Oliver Garrett, Robert Louis Garrett and Charles Millard Garrett, all of Henderson and Haroid William Garrett of Dallas, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Edmund Diaz and Mrs. Robert Barbato, both of New York City and Mrs. William Ashworth of Pompano Beach, Fla.; three brothers, John W. Garrett of Warrenton, Dan Garrett of Ahoskie and Herbert Marshall Garrett of Henderson; 16 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Robert E. Fleming, Willis Fleming, Eugene Pendergrass, C. B. Turner, Jesse Pendergrass, Vernon Fleming, Tim Pritchard and C. E. Fleming. LAWRENCE L. COOPER Funeral services for Lawrence "Larry" Cooper, 42, of Norlina were conducted Monday at 4 p. m. from the Macon United Methodist Church by the Rev Martin Armstrong. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at Macon. Mr Cooper died at North Carolina Memorial Hospital at Chapel Hill Saturday. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Claire F. Cooper; a daughter, Miss Kathy Jo Cooper of the home; a son, Lawrence Keith Cooper, of the home; his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cooper of East Taub, Mich.; tus mother, Ms. Julie Oliver of Tawas, Mich.; three sisters, Roberta Da vise of Davidson, Mich., and Mrs. Betty Vaughan and Mrs. Phyllis Stonehousse. both of East Taub, Mich.; a half-brother. Robert Tanner and Melvin Reeks ERNEST LEE ALGOOD Funeral services for Ernest Lee Algood. 36, were conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at Macon by the Rev Lawrence Harrison. Burial was in the church cemetery Mr. Algood. who was born on Feb. 3, 1946, died on May 11. He was the son of Rosa Algood and Percell Hunt, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, which he joined at an early age. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rosa A Hunt and father, Percell Hunt of New York; two brothers. Ivory and James Hunt of New York; one sister, Mrs. Rosa Lewis of New York; and four uncles, four aunts, and two greataunts. WILLIAM L. DICKENS DARLINGTON - Funeral services for William L. "Pete" Dickens, 72, who died on Wednesday, May 12, were conducted at 2 p. m. Friday from Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Dickens is survived by his widow, Mrs. Blanton L. Dickens; two sisters, Mrs. B Hugh Crawley of Littleton and Mrs. Edward A. Fortier of Roanoke Rapids; and two brothers, Grady L. Dickens of Littleton and John H. Dickens of Roanoke Rapids. Final Vaccination Day Is Scheduled Saturday, May 22, is the last day for dog vaccination in Warren County, according to Frank Twitty, dog warden Vaccinations will be given for $4 per dog from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Warren County Landfill on Baltimore Road. Twitty stressed the importance of the vaccination for rabies, and said that shots for distemper, hepatitis, and worms will also be available.
