Among other festivities, Mr. and Mrs. Dame hosted a cake and ice cream party in honor of Mrs. Walker's birthday. John and Pam Allen were among 30 couples who boarded the "Stewbird" Sunday for a cruise up the Cape Fear River from Carolina Beach to the Wilmington Hilton. They went ashore at the Hilton for an evening of dining and entertain ment at Gabriels after which they returned home by boat. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Draffin and Pat spent the weekend with the W. L. Nonemans in Edenton. Miss Melissa Draffin returned home with her parents after spending some time with the Nonemans. ram, jonn ana Heather Allen spent the week in Georgia visiting John's grandmother, his father and his sister. They had lunch with old friends, formerly of Knightdale, now residing at White Lake. They enjoyed reminiscing of old friends from Knightdale. Wednesday, Mrs. Beatrice Rouse of Southern Springs gave a surprise dinner at the Carde home. Steak, gravy, rice, squash, corn, potatoes, pickles, sliced tomatoes and cheese cake with straw berries were served and enjoyed by candlelight. Mark Carde, 12-year-old grandson of Mrs. Coleman returned thanks. Thursday they visited Guardian Care Nursing home, Mrs. Margaret Pipkins and other friends of the Carde family. Mrs. 0. T. WU^ra^Mrs^Jeanne j ii< vairen Record, Warrento Yancey Kin Have Family Reunion Descendants of William Daniel Yancey gathered recently on the lawn of the "Sarah-Lee Farm" in Norlina, now owned by Rob H. and Marie H. Yancey, for their fifth annual family reunion. T. Everett Yancey of Waverly, Va. who is actively involved in tracing the family lineage, welcomed everyone and returned thanks. A bountiful covered dish lunch was served at half past noon to relatives and friends from North Carolina and Virginia. Decendants in attendance were: (grandchildren), Mr. and Mrs. Alton Overby of Raleigh, Mrs. Annie 0. McCabe of Morehead City, Miss Selma Norwood of Durham, Malvern Norwood of Henderson, John Y. After lunch the family and friends enjoyed a period of fellowship and recalling past events in the history of the family. Family Reunion Some 67 descendants of the late Henry Foote Rooker and Alice Ed wards Rooker gathered at Palmer's Point on Sunday for their ninth annual family reunion. Of the 10 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Rooker, six were present for the reunion. The oldest family member attending the reunion was William Henry Rooker; the youngest was little Miss Amy Marie Rooker, granddaughter of >lr. and Mrs. John Edward Rooker. William H. Rooker of Monroe and Randolph Rooker of Durham traveled the farthest to attend the reunion. A covered dish lunch and an afternoon of swimming, fun and fellowship was enjoyed by all. Birth Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Page Perkinson, Jr. of Greensboro announce the birth of a son, Thomas Manning on July 28 at Wesley Long Hospital. The couple also has a daughter, Julie Page. Mrs. Perkinson is the former Debra Manning of Bethel. M. Bolton and Jimmy McAuslan. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Durant Overby, Jr. of' Norlina announce the engagement of their daugh ter, Donna Lynn, to Durward Thomas Abbott, son of Mrs. Dorothy Fisher and the late James Elmore Abbott of Henderson.
