Leaders, Officers Given Instruction By MAMIE KERSEY Warren County 4-H leaders and county council officers met April 30 at 7:30 p. m. in Mariam Boyd School. President Sharon Jef ferson presided and led the group in the pledges followed by the lord's Prayer. Mrs. Eva Holtzman introduced Frank Madi gan, director of student affairs at Vance Gran ville Community College. Madigan en couraged the youth to stay in school and graduate and to even further their education. He explained that 26 percent of most jobs will require a college degree and that Vance-Gran ville Community College had much to of fer if students would Local Work Is In Competition Warren Plains artist Dianne Rodwell's paint ing, "Evening Aura," has been accepted into the Montana Miniature Society's Sixth Annual International Miniature Competition in Billings, Mon. May4-June 1. The painting, which depicts a scene on the Rodwell farm in Warren Plains, has also been accepted in the society's third annual "Migration '84" traveling exhibit. It was one of 60 paintings selected from a field of several hundred for in clusion in the exhibit. take advantage of it. Frank Clark, Vance Granville's student placement counselor, spoke on learning to read and study math. He stressed that the com munity college was a great place for one to start his or her career in electronics and com puter science. He noted that such a background is always beneficial even if a student plans to go on to a four-year college. Mary Fuller, assistant financial aid officer at the college, explained how to get financial aid and who qualified. She said that the college's staff would be glad to talk with students about possibilities for finan cial assistance. After a slide presenta tion, there was a question and answer session. In a business session that followed, George Koonce, extension agent, reminded the leaders of the Partners in Learning workshop to be held in May for the younger 4-H members. He gave highlights of the Washington Focus at the National 4-H Center to be held in October. Mrs. Portia liarnes gave highlights of the trip to Atlanta, Ga. planned for July. Dr. Krishna was born in Clinton and reared in Greensboro. She com pleted her undergradu ate training in biology with a chemistry minor at Winston-Salem State University. She gradu ated from Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, Pa. and trained in general surgery at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia.
