Mrs. Ruth West and granddaughter, Misty, of Littleton and greatniece, Sharon Paschall, of Norlina spent five days recently at Atlantic Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Burrows and family and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Strum and family spent several days last week at Morehead, Beaufort and Atlantic Beach. Mrs. Patsy King and daughter, Barbara, of Alexandria, Va. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hawks. Miss Mary Lou Traylor spent several days recently in Miami, Fla. visiting friends. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Boykin, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Ware and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ralston, all of Virginia Beach, Va., were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thurston and family of Kansas City, Mo., Dr. and Mrs. Jack Warren and family of Baltimore, Md. and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thaxton and Mrs. Laura Whitehead of Wilson joined in celebrating Mrs. Maggie Adcock's birthday on Friday. Birth Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bryant Aycock of Afton announce the birth of a son, Michael Bryant, Jr., on July 23 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. The infant weighed seven pounds, 12 ounces. The mother is the former Sharon Rose Clark, daughter of Harold and Virginia Clark of Palmer Springs, Va. Paternal grandparents are Mrs. Thelma Aycock of Norlina and the late David Aycock. Wedding Vows Are Exchanged Ruby Dolores Seaman of Norlin* and Joseph G. Taylor of Wilaon were united in marriage on Saturday, August 10, in a 7:30 p.m. double-ring ceremony at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ridgeway. The Rev. H. Douglas Rathjen officiated. The bride is' the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter P. Seaman of Norlina. She graduated from Warren Academy and attended VanceGranville Community College in Henderson. Before her marriage, she was employed as a secretary at Rose's Buying and Executive Offices in Henderson. The groom is the son of Mrs. Buna T. Buchanan and the late Jack Taylor of Elk Park. He graduated from high school in Elizabethton, Tenn. and is employed by Roses's Stores, Inc. Mrs. Alma Mathews, organist, of Henderson, and Miss Doris Bender, vocalist, of Ridgeway, presented a program of wedding music. Escorted and given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory taffeta designed by Eve Muscio for Milady. The gown was fashioned with an open Queen Anne neckline outlined in Alencon lace beaded in pearls and iridescent sequins. The fitted bodice was overlaid in beaded Alencon lace. The long Edwardian sleeves were fashioned of taffeta and English net embellished with appliques of Alencon lace centered with pearls. The full skirt and attached cathedral length train were MRS. JOSEPH G. TAYLOR bordered in Alencon lace. She wore a waltzlength veil of illusion with Alencon lace held in place by a caplet overlaid in beaded matching lace. Mrs. Joyce S. Bratton of Winterville served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Linda S. Allen of Raleigh, Miss Elaine C. Bender and Mrs. Lynn T. Stone of Norlina and Mrs. Earline F. Newton of Oxford. Flower girl was Miss Cassandra L. Bratton of Winterville and ringbearer was Wayne A. Seaman of Manson. Bret Taylor of Wilson served as best man. Other groomsmen were Leonard J. Kilian of Norlina, Charles A. Seaman of Henderson, Raymond J. Seaman of Manson and Robert D. Melvin of Wilson. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Ruby K. Seaman. After a wedding trip to the island of Barbados in the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Wilson. Reception Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained at a reception at the Norlina Woman's Club. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Seaman and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Seaman. After the bridal couple cut the traditional first slice, wedding cake was served by Mrs. Brenda Seaman and Ms. Dolly Woodruff. Punch was poured by Mrs. Elda Seaman and Mrs. (Continued on page 8B) Henderson Firm Makes Purchase Mrs. Wilma T. McCracken, president of McCracken Oil Company, has announced the recent purchase of Warren Ice and Fuel Company and John Dore's Amoco Service in Norlina by McCracken. She noted that McCracken Oil Company plans to continue operating the newlypurchased business out of the present location and with the same personnel, John Dore, Harold Robinson and Seward McKinley. She stated the intention of the company to give the same prompt and courteous service that Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dore have given for many years. Mrs. McCracken stated that the company is looking forward to expanding operations in Warren County. McCracken Oil Company has served the people of Warren County with Amoco and Quaker State products for nearly a half-century. McCracken's home office is in Henderson, with bulk plants in Louisburg, Oxford, Wake Forest and Franklinton. BIG ROCK Cop: "How large was the rock someone threw through your window. Big as my fist?" (Bob) Ifcylor ha* been admitted as a principal with Hoiden, Moss, Knott and Co., PA., regional firm of certified public accountants with offices in Henderson, Oxford and Eden. Effective July 1, the firm's name has been changed to Hoiden, Moss, Knott, Clark and Taylor, P.A., according to a recent announcement from the firm. Taylor is a 1960 graduate of North Carolina State University and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the North Carolina Association of CPAs. He series on the committee of governmental accounting and auditing for the N. C. Association. Active in the community, Taylor is second vice president and secretary-treasurer of the Henderson Lions Club. He serves on the board of directors and as co-chairman for the commercial division for TAYLOR the Vance County United Way. A member of the First United Methodist Church, he serves as a member of the finance committee, administrative board and choir. He is treasurer of the Henderson Country Club. Taylor is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton D. Taylor and the grandson of Mrs. Jerman T. Walker, all of Norlina. He and his wife, Lisa, manager of Hite's Clothing Store in Henderson, reside at Hunters Ridge on Rt. 8, Henderson. Family Event Held Mrs. Sudie Coleman and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Coleman of Norlina, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ayscue and son, Gregory Scott, of Epsom, Mr. and Mrs. William E. Coleman, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Coleman, Jr. and children of Columbia, S. S., Kevin Price and daughter, Heather, of Kinston and Mrs. Kim Price Landing and son of Greenville enjoyed a family "get together" Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wildon Price and son, Mark, in Kinston. A pig-picking and barbecued chicken dinner was enjoyed by all. The festivities were to celebrate the birthdays of Mrs. Bobbie Jean Ayscue and Mrs. Sudie Coleman. Both received nice gifts.
