Warren Pair
To Be Guests
Two Warren County residents
will be among the 20 farm couples
from across North Carolina who
will be the guests of R. J.
Reynolds Tobacco Company in
Winston-Salem during an execu
tive development seminar for
tobacco farm men and women.
Margaret and Rayford Pernell
will participate in a two-day
seminar to be held March 1-2,
which will provide training ses
sions, tours of company facilities
and presentations by various
Reynolds Tobacco departments.
They were chosen for their
leadership abilities and com
munity service.
Earlier, the Pernells attended
two similar training sessions held
in Raleigh, which were sponsored
jointly by RJR, N. C. State Uni
versity and the North Carolina
Agricultural Extension Service.
Because the Pernells, like the
other 19 couples, are farm man
agement teams, in the earlier
sessions, the family teams dis
cussed farm responsibilities
usually assigned to one or the
other.
The seminar highlight will be a
banquet on March 1, when Ralph
Angiuolo, president and chief ex
ecutive officer of R. J. Reynolds
Tobacco USA, will discuss tobac
co's outlook for the future.
"American agriculture is a ma
jor cornerstone for the high
standard of living in the United
States (and) we need the con
tinued support of our nation's
tobacco-growing community to
continue producing superior
products," the keynote speaker
said recently.
