Friday, June 22, 1951 HOPKINS CHAPEL Our Vacation Bible School last week was very successful. There I were 127 enrolled. Those who at tended would like to thank the church for furnishing refreshments and also those who prepared them. The Bible School teachers were: Beginners, Mrs. Ann Martin, Mrs. Raymond Averette, Mrs. Austin Perry, and Mrs. Iris Temple; Pri mary, Mrs. Eddie Martin and Mrs. Minerva Perry; Juniors, Mrs. Jim mie Lee Pearce and Jane Rogers; Intermediates, Mrs. Fred Crisp j and Velva Pearce. Mr. Crisp was principal. The following were visitors at j church Sunday: Mr. and Mrs. Er nest Ennis and children, Mrs. El- ! la Perry, and Mrs. Thelma Doyle and Brenda. On the sick list are L. A. Perry, Mrs. Mary Susan Patterson Ches ter Faison, Crusoe Denton, and Mrs. Carrie Perry. Get-well wishes are extended to these. Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Pearce and Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Pearce went to the mountains last weekend. Miss Sonia Privette visited Kay Baker last weekend. Mr. Bill Perry, Rosa McKagan and Mike visited the Karl Bakers Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Carrie Martin and Mrs. Maxine Rogers are spending some time in Washington, D. C., with Janette Baker and Maxine’s moth er, Mrs. Pleasants. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Ben King. They have a son, Ben, Jr., born on Father’s* Day. The following recently visited Mrs. Lucy Hopkins: Mrs. Frank Nowell of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Jif fy Rogers, of Morganton, and Mrs. Hattie Mitchell. Faye, Rose, and Jesse Temple attended the Temple family re union at Pullen Park Sunday. Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Curtis Watkins since his death on Mon day. A very good meeting was reported with 42 present. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Brimer of Gastonia visited the Fred Crisps on Saturday. On Monday Mr. and Mrs. Jack Falls and Mr. Morrsett from Gardner-Webb College were their guests. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crisp and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Crisp and family of Charlotte came to see them on Tuesday. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Hutch Locklear. They have a new baby. Remember Sunday School and Church each Sunday, Bible Study each Thursday night at 8:00. We are studytng the book of Romans now. Quite a large crowd gathered at church and Sunday School last Sunday. Was glad to sea so many and we welcome all the visitors who attended the services. I’m sure everyone enjoyed the wonder ful Father’s Day message brought to us by our pastor Rev. Vivian Evans. Mrs. Leo Leffingwell and chil dren of Baltimore, Md., are here to spend the summer months with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buck Richards. Mr. and Mrs. James Mitchell visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Creech last Thursday. Their visit was enjoyed. Rev. Vivian Evans visited his father, Mr. W. S. Evans, of Eden ton Thursday afternoon and Fri day. Mr. James Clayborn Mitchell of Rolesville celebrated his 15th birthday last Thursday, June 14th. Hope he had a happy one. Many more to you. Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Richards and Bruce of Hopkins Cross Roads, Mrs. Sterling Mitchell, and Mrs. Vance Lee Denton and Jean visit ed in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Buck Richards last Tuesday morn ing. Mr. and Mrs. Julian Mitchell and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hood on Monday. We were glad to see Mesdames Lida Bridgers, Vera Rhodes, and Virginia Wood at Union Chapel last Sunday. Come and visit with us again. The Junior Class meeting was held last June sth at the home of Faye and Wayne Fuller. There was a short program and games were played. Faye and Wayne served to their guests graham crackers, ice cream, peanuts and cookies. The next meeting will be held at Kay Pate’s home July 3rd. The hail and wind storm that occurred through this section last Thursday did some damage, but was not as bad as those near Zebulon. I guess we have some thing to be thankful for.
