D. Chamblee * PEARCE NEWS Our revival began last Monday night with a good attendance. We hope it will continue through the week. The Rev. Charles Howard is conducting the service. Mr. and Mrs.'William H. Murray of Canada, cousins of the Willi ford Gays, were visitors in the Gay home over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Ray, Kay and Celestia and Misses Tootsie and Louvinia Ray spent last week end at White Lake. Thelma Gay Doyle of Raleigh was home on Saturday. Her daugh ter, Brenda, is sick. Mrs. Joe Ray and her mother, Mrs. R. H. Johnson, spent last Friday in Raleigh. Mrs. Johnson is going to see the doctor. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Richards of Raleigh announce the birth of a son, Eddie Clifton, July 8, at Mary Elizabeth Hospital. Mrs. Richards is the former Miss Lucille Perry of near Zebulon. Mrs. Clifton Perry spent the weekend with her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Richards of Raleigh. Mrs. Dock Baker, mother of Mrs. L. D. Perry, has had a growth removed from her face and is getting along just fine. Mrs. J. W. Perry, Mrs. T. D. I Perry, and Mrs. Ivon Pearce spent Friday in Raleigh, shopping. Mrs. L. D. Perry went to be j wdh her mother when she was operated on. Mrs. B. K. Gay, her mother and sisters, Mrs. Arthur Ferrell, and Miss Vissie Ferrell of Union Chapel were Raleigh visitors last Friday. Mr. Lawrence Pearce and Dot ty Pearce were visitors in Garner Saturday night before last. Mrs. P. G. Miss Barbara Jane Pearce and Miss Tootsie Ray, who are working in Raleigh were home on their vacation last week. Mrs. L. D. Perry took her mo ther, Mrs. Dock Baker, back to a doctor in Raleigh Monday. Mrs. C. L. Perry and Mrs. Ben Perry visited Mrs. E. G. Richards at Mary Elizabeth Hospital last Monday. Miss Bobby Glynn Baker of Raleigh spent the weekend with her parents, the Alex Bakers. Mr. Elmer Pearce, Patrolman of Charlotte, was on his vacation last week and spent several days visiting her parents, the A. N. Pearces. Mr. and Mrs. David Lee Clayton of Durham were visitors in the home of Mrs. Clayton’s par ents, the A. N. Pearces, last Fri day. Mr. and Mrs. Plybon Pearce and , family of near Raleigh were visi- | tors in the community several days ago. Vallie Pearce spent Saturday night with Dot Pearce. We were glad to see so many out to the supper the ball boys gave last Saturday evening. Busy days are here but don’t forget we are obliged to I keep our attendance above 200 all through the busy season. With a ! small effort, we can do this. The sermon of “What if I Do” was wonderful. The Sledge family express their sincere thanks for the cards, vis its and flowers, prayers and any kindness shown during the illness ! of Mr. Sledge. We were on vacation last week but did not miss going to church and worship. A little work each week or two will keep the weeds and grass from .he cemetery. It is your duty to keep it clean and remind others to help. Each first and third Sunday the Youth Choir sings. On the second and fourth Sundays the Adult Choir sings. We are sorry to report Mr. Otho Liles, Sr., is in Duke Hospital and his son, Fred, is ill in Rex Hospit al. We hope Mrs. M. D. Hood of Zebulon will soon be home from Rex where she had an operation on a fractured knee. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Tracy and children of Portsmouth, Va., are spending some time with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Carter. Mr. Battle Joyner of Paris, France, and his mother, Mrs. Eu reka Joyner of Raleigh, visited Mrs. J. B. Carter Tuesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Wood and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood went to Carolina Beach last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. James Lawrence and Mr. Lawrence’s mother of New Jersey were dinner guests of Mrs. John Starnes Monday. In the af ternoon they called on Mrs. Ma mie Gay. Misses Mildred and Virgelene Puryear of Bunnlevel is spend ing this week with Mrs. John Car ter. Carl and Lawrence Puryear spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carter in Raleigh. Mrs. Ercelle Agan and children of Kinston are spending this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Starnes. Mr. John Carter left Sunday for a two weeks’ stay in camp at Fort Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Liles went to Manteo to see the Lost Colony last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Carter of Ral eigh, Mr. and Mrs. Ennie Puryear of Mitchell’s Mill, Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Williford of Bethany, and Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Puryear and fam ilies were visitors at Mr. T. Y.
