Miss Hattie Stallings of Oxford spent the weekend with her sis ter, Mrs. R. M. Johnson. Miss Ann Murphy has returned to her home in Portsmouth, Va., after spending the summer with the Fred Woods. Thelma Gay Doyle has been home on vacation with her parents, the Williford Gays, and daughter, Brandy Doyle. Those attending the Home Dem onstration Club picnic at White Lake last Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Perry and Rebecca, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Pearce and family, Mr. and Mrs. H. K. Let’s try to fill them. Rev. Claude Connell supplied for our pastor Sunday evening. We are glad Mr. Combs could visit his mother, who lives in the western part of the state. The Bethany G. A. with their teacher, Mrs. William Cozart held its meeting Saturday afternoon at Lake Mirl. It was enjoyed by all. We are planning for a glori ous Home Coming at Bethany Baptist Church on the first Sun day in October. That will also be the beginning of our revival week. Hope all the former members and pastors can attend along with all others who will come. Everyone is welcome. We are glad Mrs. Luther Watkins is improving. We are sorry that Mrs. Lena Watson is on the sick list again. Hope she and all others who are sick will soon be well. Miss Linda Andrews of Wendell spent Sunday with Miss Mary El len Hagwood. Mrs. Jim Goodson of Raleigh spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Davis. We are sorry that Mrs. Sam Davis’ brother, Mr. Temp Robert son of Wendell is very ill. Most farmers through this sec tion are through barning tobacco and some have started getting it ready for the market. Miss Fadene Williford and little sister, Dona Gayle of Raleigh took supper with their grandoarents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Williford Sun day night.
