Friday, November 18, 1955 Hopkins Chapel News Mrs. Iris Temple « Among the sick are Inez Brown, Ruby Richards, Mrs. Herbert Fai son, Mrs. John Perry, Pete Mit chell, Albert Bunn, Lois Bailey, Flossie Perry and Clyde Pearce. We extend great sympathy to the relatives of Mr. Johnny Al ford since his recent death. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pearce an nounce the birth of a daughter, Janet Gail. Mrs. Ray Gurley of Jamesville, Wis., will be home this weekend. She is the former Bobbie Ruth Doyle. Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Perry, Jr. visited the G. J. Perrys last week end. The Couples Class and B. T. U. members visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Averett Sunday night. They carried a basket to them and sang gospel songs. The Hopkins Choir, the Baker Quartet and the Pearce Trio sang at New Hope Christian Church Sunday p.m. The Iris Temple family visited the D. A. Copes at Corinth Satur day p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Averette visited the R. L. and H. G. Aver ettes Sunday. College students spending the Rosenburg News Mrs. Ernestine Marshall Mrs. E. A. Phipps of Chadbourn is spending this week with her daughter, Mrs. Atlas' Edwards. Carlie Morris of Raleigh spent Tuesday with his mother, Mrs. El len Morris. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pearce of Ra leigh, Mr. and Mrs. I. O. Pearce and Msr. Delores May and children of Pearces visited the W. O. Black leys Sunday afternoon. The Mitchell Hunter family, the Fred Donald family of Raleigh and the Chester Wall family of Roles ville were Sunday visitors of the Marshall Stricklands. Mrs. Richard Medlin and Seba visited the Riley Brannons at the home of their daughters, Doan and Della, in Raleigh, Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Baker and Miss Bessie Baker visited Mrs. Ola Ferrell who is improving, Tues day night. The Wilbur Gays and children visited her sister, Mrs. Donohue Baker, at Fountain Sunray. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Perkins of Raleigh announce the birth of a daughter, Cathie Eve, November 15, at Rex Hospital. Mrs. Perkins is the former Millie Oakley. Cathie Eve is the 19th grandchild of Mrs. W. A. Oakley. Mr. Deve Pearce has returned home after spending several days with his daughter, Mrs. Lorenza Jones at Bunn. Mrs. Horace Jones and Mrs. Bud Jeans of Pilot and Mrs. Douglas Seymour of Poplar Springs visited the Robert Perrys Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Saunders and family of Winston-Salem vis ited his parents, the Luther Saun ders, Sunday. The Gus Saunders of Willow Springs were visitors also. DOWN weekend at home were Willard, Gay and Sue Richards from E. C. C., Greenville, Douglas Perry from Campbell and Norma Bridges from Meredith. Weekend guests of the J. O. Pearces were Rupert, Jack and Dick Pearce from Wilson, Annie and Jesse High from Corinth, Gray Baker and Marshall Virgin ia, James Wheeles and his moth er, and Lee and Margaret from Raleigh. The Home Demonstration Club met Wednesday at 3:00. A Christ mas program was presented. Mrs. L. R. Temple decorated the mantle which was lovely, Mrs. Helen Jones made a door badge and Mrs. Vera Rhodes, a center piece for a table. We decided to sell tickets for our lovely quilts. You purchase a ticket from any mem ber for a quarter. The money will be used on lights for our club house. Mr. A1 Kline and son, Kenny, spent the weekend in Baltimore, Md. Mrs. Grace Coppedge of Spring Hope is visiting her sister, Mrs., I Kearney Carlyle, this week. Mesdames W. B. Carlyle, Lois Perry, Gray Coppedge, and Mr.! Buddie and Donnie Carlyle had supper with Mrs. Eva Carlyle re cently. Mrs. Eva Carlyle celebrated her birthday recently at a winner. All of her children were present. Mrs. Nejl Sarner of Raleigh spent the weekend with her sister, Mrs. Louise Klyne and mother, Mrs. Eva Carlyle. Mrs. Vera Rhodes and Mrs. Clel lie Liles attended the funeral of Mr. Harlo Mimms Monday morn ing at Mitchell’s Funeral Home in Raleigji. Mrs. Vera Rhodes visited Mrs. K. P. Leonard last Sunday. Mrs. 7arl Avarett had supper with ; them. Mrs. Leonards brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Carey Bowden, of Georgia were visiting her for a few days. A car load of colored people crashed into Jos Wayne Tippett on the highway near Gainey’s Store Wednesday afternoon. Our sympathy is with the Mims family due to the recent death of Mr. Harlo Mims.
