Zebulon - WendeN Citizens Are Urged To Select Local Clinic Site The search for a site for the Wake County hospital that has been the bone of contention for so long has now narrowed down to four possible sites, Foster Finch, vice chairman of the Hospital Author ity, has said. The sites named are Allen Lum ber Company, the Raleigh Muni cipal Airport, Six Forks Road and Poole Road. Finch said his preference of the four is the Poole Road site. He believes when the final selection is made by the authority the Poole Road site will be the one made. Some of the desirable qualifi cations of the Poole Road site were named by Finch. These in clude: a 12-inch water main with ample pressure at the property line, sewage connections will cost only $3,600, perfect drainage, a new school within a half mile, adequate help, transportation for it, and it would be within easy reach and recreational facilities at the Country Club. He said the city of Raleigh has made a commitment to widen the Poole Road to the hospitals’ site. The Highway Department has left them with the reasonable assurance that the belt highway would be built within three blocks of the site,on the opposite side of Highway 64 by the time the hos pital is finished. Finch said that the Authority is intrigued by the property owner’s proposition to split the cost of paved streets, curb and gutter along the west and south boundaries. Also the owners very comprehensive plans for develop ing the rest of 'the property for residential purposes, thus pro viding home sites for the super visory personnel is appealing* Further, Finch said, it seems to the Authority that the race pro blem could be handled here better than at any of the other suggested sites. Add to this the grass cover age, trees, view over the city and surrounding country and the fact (See SITE, Page 7) Guest Minister Is Seminary Professor The Reverend Bernard Stallin of the Southeastern Baptist Theo logical Seminary of Wake Forest will occupy the pulpit in the Baptist Church on July 22.
