Wakefield News Mr*. Vera B. Rhodes Mrs. Jeanie Hamm has gone to work in Raleigh since she and her husband have finished summer school at ACC in Wilson. Harris Perry is in Wendell Zebulon Hospital with broken ribs. Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Flowers and family entertained the Bonnelle children last weekend at White Lake. Mrs. Louise Kimball and family went to the beach last weekend. Mrs. Nuber Bolton is visiting, relatives. C. B. Eddins is still on the criti cal list at Wendell-Zebulon Hos pital. Mrs. Vera Rhodes and Mi o. Ber tha Hood visited Mrs. Mamie Wall at Knightdale Saturday night. Mrs. J. W. Boykin is in Rex Hospital very sick. She has a new baby five weeks old. His mother is keeping the baby. Mrs. Vera Rhodes went to a shower at Union Chapel annex Friday night for Mrs. Janies Cun ningham. Mrs. D. A. Gay brought her mother, Mrs. Alice Hood, home Friday. They had lunch with me. Mrs. Hettie Vause had a nice vacation last week. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Dean and son spent Sunday with her moth er, Mrs. Fannie Bolton. Billy Bolton spent last Wednes day with his mother. H. A. Hodge, Jr., met his son, Jimmie, at Raleigh-Durham Air port Sunday at 3:15 p.m. and brought him home for a visit be fore going on to his base in Nor folk, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Panton of Suffolk, Va., spent last week with her parents, the Harold Greens. Mrs. and Mrs. Ollie Manning of Rocky Mount visited the J. B. Stallings last Wednesday. Mrs. Marvin Winstead of Dur ham is visiting Mrs. Helen Jones. The Allen Hoods are spending the week at the George Black apt. at Carolina Beach. Wheeler and wife, Miss Estha Martin, Mrs. Bill Bunn ' of Oxford and Mrs. H. M. Shaw of Raleigh left Tuesday , for Wrightsville Beach to spend sev eral days. Miss Bessie Baker spent the weekend with Mrs. Helen Jones. Mrs. Fred Breslau and daugh j ter Jill, of Asheville spent part I of last week with her mother, Mrs. Helen Jones. j Mrs. Annie Jones visited Mrs. [ W. H. Winstead Sunday p.m. Mrs. Ida Oakley and mother and children and Mrs. Vera Rhodes went to Finch’s Peach and blue berry farm near Mt. Pleasant Sunday. COLORED NEWS By Mrs. Lizzie B. Askew Mr. and Mrs. Alfonza Perry of New Jersey were here for Home coming and spent a week with Mr. Perry’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Perry. McClellan Foster (Buster) was here for Homecoming. He spent a week with his parents, the C. E. Askews. Mr. McClellan lives in Baltimore, Md. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. High were here for Homecoming. They are residents of White Plains, N. Y. They spent a week or more with relatives, Mr. and Mrs. James Reid and Mr. and Mrs. B. A. High. Mr. High attended the Wake County Sunday School and BTU Conven tion which was held at the First Baptist Church, Raleigh. Mr. High is a life member of the Convention and has been attending for 25 years. He takes an active part serving on committees. A. A. Jones of Baltimore, Md., and wife attended the Convention. Mr. and Mrs. John Howcott of New York City were here for Homecoming, and spent about 10 days with Mrs. Howcott’s father, U. G. Jones. Mrs. C. E. Askew will appear on the program of the Home and Foreign Missionary Convention of North Carolina to be held in Ra leigh August 15-18. Mrs. Askew will bring greetings to the Junior Young People of North Carolina. Mrs. LaVerne Harrison cf Clarksville, Va., and Zebulon has undergone an operation at Wake County Memorial Hospital, Ra leigh^ She is the daughter of the J. T. Lockes of Zebulon. Funeral services for Mts. Glen Dora Jones of Pilot were held at Gethsemane Baptist Church where she was a member. Mrs. Jones was the mother of Mrs. Etta High Har ris of Zebulon. The grandchil dren of Mrs. Jones attending the funeral were Mrs. Eredena Young, teacher at Hayswood School, Lum berton, Sylvester High, Barber Camp, Clayton, Eric High of New ark, N. J., Mrs. Eura H. Jones, Su pervisor Vance County City Schools, Henderson, Earl E. High, Instructor, West Virginia State Teachers’ College Institute, West Va., Shermon High, Newark, N. J., Mrs. Neda H. Harris, Teacher at Church Street School, Thomasville, Major High, attomey-at-law, Greensboro. Many beautiful floral designs were given Mrs. Jones by her white neighbors and friends.
