News of Wendell Eddie Stott, a former resident of Wendell, caught the 100th King Mackerel from the pier at Atlantic Beach and last week was awarded a prize of $2S.OO cash. Last week he caught and landed a 385 lb. shark. Eddie and wife Cora Lee have a trailer at Atlantic Beach and spend most of their time there. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ammons en tertained at a steak dinner at their home last Saturday night. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Warren Dean, Mr. and Mrs. Bill C. Roberts, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Thomas. The Bridge Tournament spon sored by the Sportsman Club last Friday night at the Lunchroom was a success. Dr. Clifford Horton is the president of the club. Mrs. Lydia Caudle of Charlotte spent Tuesday with her mother, Mrs. Gus Faison, and attended the funeral of Ivan Massey. Mr. and Mrs. William Massey and daughter Linsey returned to Miami, Fla., Wednesday after at tending the funeral of father, Ivan Massey, who died in Miami last Monday. Mrs. W. B. Bruch and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williford spent last weekend in Washington, D. C.. attending the Christening of Mr. and Mrs. Jourdan Harding’s baby. Mr. and Mrs. Williford are the God Parents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Slate, Jr., of South Boston were Holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Whit ley. John Perry is a patient at Rex Hospital. He is suffering from ul cers. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Ledford, Jr., of Wilmington spent Holidays with parents, the Luther Ledfords. Joe Lynn Ledford spent Thanks giving in Jacksonville, Fla., as the guest of Miss Judy Stanland. Mrs. Joe Ferrell spent Holidays in Raleigh as the guest of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Strickland. Mr. and Mrs. Graham Dean: spent Thanksgiving in Wilson with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bass. Mrs. J. L. Talton of Lucama celebrated her 86th birthday at the home of her daughter Nov. 28. All her children attended. Mrs. Gra ham Dean of Wendell is one daughter. Mrs. Lennox Rawlings and chil dren of Wilson visited parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Thompson, over the i Holidays. Mrs. Hubert Laing and daughter of Danville, Va., spent the week end with mother, Mrs. Jno. Mat tox. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Dean and daughter spent the Holidays in Murfreesboro with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Odom. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Nowell and son George visited friends in Co lumbia, S. C., the past week end. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Taylor and daughter Brenda, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Buchannon and daughter Sally are on a tour of Florida. Miss Margaret Sanders of Miami and Johnnie Sanders of Oak Ridge came last week- for a visit with parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Sand ers. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Land and children of Goldsboro spent the Holidays with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Land. Mr. and Mrs. Huey “Fuzzy” Al len and baby of Tampa, Fla., are spending two weeks vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Allen. Miss Marjorie Richardson and R. E. Hunter Daniel of Raleigh, parents of Mrs. Scarborough, Jr. • BROADUS M. WIGGS Broadus M. Wiggs, 47, of 5113 Old Stage Road, died Sunday morning in Gainesville, Ga. Mr. Wiggs was a 'retired Naval officer and was associated with the Rich mond Tire and Rubber Co. He was a member of Wendell Baptist Church in Wendell. Funeral serv ices were held at Overby Funeral Home chapel Wednesday. Inter ment followed in National Ceme tery here with military honors. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rach el Wiggs; two sisters, Mrs. Eddie Chakales and Mrs. Vrid WilkeTson, both of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, Bailey of Raleigh, Tparge of Milford, N. H., and Phillip of Rocky Mount. • FRANK GORDON Funeral Services were held for Frank Gordan on Monday at 2 p.m. from Wendell Baptist Church, of which he had been a faithful mem ber. Mr. Gordan died on Thursday at Rex Hospital after a five weeks illness. He was owner and proprie tor of Gordan Shoe Shop on Main Street until recently, when he had to close his shop due to illness. He is survived by his wife, one daughter and one son. Pallbearers were Joe Henderson, Warren Dean, Bourke Smith, Jimmie Buchannon, Miles Stephens, Leo. Britt. Burial was in Greenmount Cemetery. Wednes day Mrs. Stallings visited her mother, Mrs. Clark, who is a patient in Duke Hospital. Thurs day she visited her daughter in Fayetteville. Mrs. James Barham spent Thanksgiving with her husband, James BaTham, at Camp Lee, Va. Last Friday evening Mrs. Marie Stallings of Raleigh visited rela tives in the Community. Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Lewis and son Lynn and Paul Batchler attended the Tippett-Batchler wedding in Wake Forest. Mrs. Limie Jeanes of Bailey vis ited Mrs. Frank Davis Bunn last Thursday. Mrs. Bruit Bunn of New Hope was also guest of Mrs. Bunn. Mrs. Hubert Bunn enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner in her home Thursday with most of her family with her.
